SDI claim filed in June, no response - How long until EDD processes disability claims?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability claim. Filed it back in June and still haven't heard anything. No letters, no updates, nada. It's been months and I'm getting worried. Anyone else dealing with this? How long did it take for you to hear back or get your first payment? I'm starting to feel like I'm in limbo here.

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. You'll need this if things go south. 2. Be persistent with calls. Yes, it sucks, but sometimes you gotta be the squeaky wheel. 3. Check your spam folder religiously. Sometimes important emails end up there. 4. If you can, get your doctor to follow up on your behalf. It can sometimes speed things up. 5. Know your rights. Read up on the disability claim process so you know what to expect. 6. Consider reaching out to a disability advocate or lawyer if things drag on too long. Remember, the system is overloaded but you WILL get through eventually. Don't give up!

I can vouch for getting a doctor's note or input to help speed things up. It really helped in my case.

lmao watch them process your claim the day after your disability ends. Wouldn't put it past them. ๐

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I waited 6 months for mine to process. The system is totally broken. Hang in there, friend. ๐ค

It's really disheartening to hear how long everyone's wait times are. I hope something changes soon.

Update: Finally got through to someone! They said my claim is "pending review" whatever that means. At least it's something I guess? Still no idea when I'll see any money tho.

Used that claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier. Felt weird paying but man, it was worth it to finally talk to someone.

Pending review usually means it's in the final stage, but it can still take some time. Hang in there!

Ugh, I feel you. The waiting game is the worst. I filed mine in May and didn't hear anything for like 3 months. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get any info.

Yeah, I've tried calling but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or they hang up on me. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. I got through after trying this for a week straight. Good luck!

I've also found that calling on Wednesdays and Thursdays tends to yield better results than calling on Mondays or Fridays, when they seem busiest.

guys i found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam?

Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but I was desperate. It actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 to actually talk to a human? Might be worth it at this point lol. How long did you wait?

Only like 30 mins. Way better than the hours I spent trying to get through on my own.

I was worried about the cost, but given how much time you can save, it might be a good investment for those who are really struggling to get through.

Friendly reminder to everyone: take care of your mental health while dealing with this stress. It's easy to get caught up in the frustration. Remember to breathe, y'all. โค๏ธ

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The system is a joke. ๐คก

The system definitely needs reform. It's an unnecessary burden on people who are already dealing with disabilities.

Has anyone else noticed that the wait times seem to be getting worse? I swear last year it wasn't this bad. What changed?

Also, the system needs modernization. It's been outdated for years, and the pandemic just made that even more apparent.

When you're stuck in limbo waiting for your disability claim to process, it can feel frustrating and hopeless. However, tools like Claimyr can indeed help. Claimyr allows you to bypass long hold times and connect directly with an agent, which can be a game-changer. It's important to remain vigilant and keep track of your application's status, as any small progress is a step towards resolution. Consider reaching out to local representatives or advocacy groups who may have additional resources or advice. Patience is key, but knowing you're doing everything you can is crucial. Remember, despite the challenges, these systems aim to support you, and you are entitled to this support. Balance using tools like Claimyr with traditional methods, ensuring you're covering all your bases. Stay informed, stay persistent, and take care of your mental health during this stressful time. A balanced approach to navigating the system, like using Claimyr in conjunction with traditional follow-ups, often yields the best results.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update stuff there before sending letters. Also, make sure they have your correct address. I know it sounds dumb, but it happens.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been checking online like a maniac, but nothing new there either. And yeah, double-checked my address. I'm just stuck in limbo I guess.

I second reaching out to your local representative. It may take some time, but they might be able to put pressure on the system for you.
