Need help renewing EDD claim - any recent experiences or tips?
Hey everyone, I need to renew my unemployment claim and I'm not sure where to start. Has anyone gone through this process recently? I'm wondering if I should be expecting any notices or letters from the EDD about it. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve unemployment claim renewal issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuvhOue15l4

I just went through this last month. Make sure you check your online account regularly. They usually send a notice there before mailing anything out. Also, keep an eye on your email for any updates or requests for additional info.

•This is good advice. I missed an important notice because I wasn't checking my online account regularly. Don't make the same mistake I did!

•How often do you recommend checking the online account? Daily? Weekly?

•I'd say at least once a week, but during the renewal process, maybe every couple of days just to be safe. Better safe than sorry, right?

Ugh, renewing claims is such a headache. I swear the EDD makes it complicated on purpose. Good luck, OP! 🍀

Here's what you need to do: 1. Log into your UI Online account 2. Check for any pending tasks or messages 3. Look for a 'File New Claim' button - sometimes you need to file a new claim even if you're just renewing 4. Have your employment history for the last 18 months ready 5. Make sure your contact info is up to date 6. If you don't see anything in your online account, call the EDD directly Remember, the process can take a few weeks, so start early. And don't forget to keep certifying for benefits while you wait for the renewal to process!

•This is great info! One question tho - what if your employment history hasn't changed since your last claim? Do you still need to re-enter everything?

•Good question! In my experience, you usually still need to enter it again. The system often wants you to confirm that nothing has changed. It's annoying, but better to provide the info again than risk delaying your claim.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they're trying to discourage people from claiming what they're entitled to.

•Totally agree. It's a nightmare. I spent weeks trying to get my claim sorted last year. Never again!

Has anyone heard about the new bill they're trying to pass that might affect unemployment benefits? Wonder if that'll make the renewal process any easier (or harder 😩

•I heard something about that! Apparently, it's supposed to streamline the whole process. But knowing the government, who knows if it'll actually help 🙄

Pro tip: If you're having trouble reaching someone at EDD, try calling right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through first thing in the morning.
