Money Network card won't work at ATMs - Need receipt details to get past EDD customer service
Got a serious problem with my EDD Money Network card that's driving me absolutely crazy. I tried to withdraw cash today and the ATM kept spitting out receipts saying "Invalid Card, Please contact your Financial Institution or use another card"! I know I have money on the card (about $2,400 from recent certification payments), but I can't even check the balance now! The nightmare got worse when I called Money Network customer service. After going through all the usual verification (name, DOB, address, last 4 of SSN, latest deposit amount), they hit me with these impossible security questions: - WHERE did you last use your card? - WHAT date was it? - WHAT amount was withdrawn/spent? - WHAT TIME was the transaction? I remembered the store, date, and amount ($43.27 at Target), but couldn't remember the exact TIME of day, and they refused to help me! The rep basically said, "Sorry, you failed security verification" and wouldn't do anything else. WARNING TO EVERYONE: KEEP EVERY SINGLE RECEIPT from your Money Network card transactions! Without them, you're locked out if you need help. Has anyone dealt with this? Any way to bypass their ridiculous security questions or get my card working again? I've got bills due next week!

Money Network's security protocols have become extremely strict since the massive fraud issues in 2023. I work with unemployment claimants regularly, and here's what you need to know: 1. Keep a transaction log with EXACT times and locations 2. Take photos of all receipts immediately (they fade quickly) 3. Always have at least 2 alternative payment methods for accessing your funds To fix your current situation, try calling again but request to speak with a supervisor immediately. Explain that you have all transaction details except the exact time. Supervisors often have more flexibility to verify your identity through alternative means. If that fails, you may need to request a replacement card, which unfortunately takes 7-10 business days to arrive.

•Thanks for the advice. I'll try asking for a supervisor next time. But 7-10 days for a replacement?? That's insane when I need groceries NOW. Does requesting a replacement card lock my current one completely or could it start working again before the new one arrives?

•It's honestly the worst. Are you going to try getting a replacement card? I'm worried even if I do that, I'll have the same security question issues when activating it. This whole system is broken.

THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! Money Network has been pulling this crap for YEARS and EDD does NOTHING about it! When I had my card in 2024, I had to drive 30 miles to find an ATM that would actually work without charging $5 fees, then they locked my account for "suspicious activity" because I used an ATM in a different zip code! THEN they asked me these impossible questions about times and dates! I called EDD 47 TIMES before getting through, and they just said "We can't help with Money Network issues, call them directly." It's a nightmare circle of incompetence!!! The only solution I found was demanding direct deposit instead. Money Network is a complete scam designed to make it impossible to access YOUR OWN MONEY!!!

•Actually, EDD now offers direct deposit as the default option for all new claims. OP should definitely set up direct deposit through UI Online for future payments, though that doesn't solve the immediate problem of accessing the money already on the card. One correction though - Money Network isn't a scam; they're just implementing extremely strict fraud prevention after billions of dollars in unemployment fraud happened during the pandemic. Unfortunately, legitimate claimants are caught in the crossfire of their security measures.

I had a similar issue last month - try this workaround: 1) Go to the Money Network website (not the app) 2) Select "forgot password" option 3) This triggers a different verification process that uses email codes instead of transaction details 4) Once you're in, immediately set up a transfer to your bank account if you have one Worked for me when my card was being declined everywhere. The security questions are insane... who remembers exact times of purchases?? Good luck!

•Thank you!! I'll try this right now. I do have a checking account I could transfer to. Do you remember how long the transfer took to process? I'm seriously down to my last few dollars until I can access this money.

•LOL good luck with that! I've called EDD over 50 times in one day without getting through. Their phone system is basically designed to prevent you from ever speaking to a human being. They'll just tell you to call Money Network anyway since the card is technically their system, not EDD's.

After helping dozens of clients with Money Network issues, I can tell you the quickest solution: use Claimyr to reach an EDD representative directly. Regular EDD phone lines are constantly jammed, but Claimyr gets you through to an actual EDD agent who can assist with card issues. They can sometimes override Money Network restrictions or transfer your funds to direct deposit instead. You can see how it works in this video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The website is claimyr.com - I recommend this to all my clients facing Money Network problems. It's much faster than waiting for a replacement card or trying to satisfy Money Network's impossible security questions.

•I just checked out that video - does this actually work? I'm desperate at this point. Can EDD really override Money Network's security blocks? If so I'll try this tomorrow morning.

To answer your question about replacement cards: requesting a replacement does NOT immediately lock your current card. Your existing card should continue working until the new one is activated. However, in your specific case where the card is being declined with an "Invalid Card" message, this suggests there may be a deeper account issue or possible fraud flag. This is precisely why speaking with a supervisor at Money Network is important - regular representatives often don't have the authority to remove security holds. One additional tip: if you're unable to resolve this by tomorrow, consider filing a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Money Network is required to respond to these complaints within 15 days, and they often resolve issues more quickly when a regulatory agency is involved.

•Excellent advice about the CFPB complaint. I've seen this work wonders when financial institutions are being unreasonable. Just be sure to document every call you've made (dates, times, representative names if possible) to include in your complaint.

•That's awesome news! I actually got through to a supervisor at Money Network this morning after calling for like 2 hours. They finally verified me using my address and last deposit date instead of the transaction time. My card should be working again within 24 hours. But I'm definitely setting up direct deposit for the future - this Money Network stress is not worth it!
