Missed EDD interview - how to reschedule when can't reach anyone?
I totally messed up and missed my interview for unemployment benefits. Has anyone else been in this situation? What should I do now? I've been trying to get in touch with someone to reschedule but it's been impossible to reach anyone. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, been there done that. It's such a pain to get through to them. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works for me.

•Yeah, I've tried that but no luck so far. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call at 7:59am and keep hitting redial. Sometimes you can get through before the lines get jammed.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to get through yourself.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep trying to call. Be persistent. 2. Document everything. Write down when you call, who you speak to (if anyone), and what they say. 3. Send an email explaining your situation. Keep it brief and to the point. 4. Check your online account regularly for any updates or messages. 5. If all else fails, contact your local representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Missing an interview isn't the end of the world, but you need to show you're making a genuine effort to rectify the situation. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: prepare a script for when you do get through. It'll help you stay focused and not forget important points.

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a response.

•That's encouraging to hear. Did you just keep calling or did you do something else?

This whole system is broken af. Why can't they just have a simple online rescheduling tool? It's 2023 ffs 🤦♂️

Anyone know if there's a penalty for missing the interview? Like, do they reduce your benefits or something?

•As far as I know, there's no direct penalty. But obviously, your benefits won't start until you complete the interview process.

•I think if you miss multiple interviews they might flag your account for review. But one missed interview shouldn't be a big deal if you reschedule.
