EDD rep couldn't understand my benefit amount question - how to get actual help?

I just got off the phone with customer service about my benefit amount and they were no help at all. The rep didn't seem to understand what I was asking. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to get someone else on the line who might be more knowledgeable? I'm so frustrated right now.

I found a way to solve customer service benefit amount issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdrO00IiR94

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been there too. Sometimes it feels like they just read from a script and don't actually listen to what you're saying. Have you tried calling back and hoping for a different rep?

I thought about that, but I don't want to wait on hold for another hour just to get someone who might be just as unhelpful 😩

Pro tip: call right when they open. You'll usually get through faster and sometimes the morning crew is more helpful. Just my experience tho

Or try calling 5 minutes before they close. Sometimes they want to wrap up quick and will actually solve your problem faster lol

I found a method to get someone on the phone who can actually help. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta pay to play 🤷‍♀️

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You choose the department you need, pay, and they start calling. When a real person answers, your phone rings. No guarantee, but it worked for me and saved a ton of time.

Have you tried reaching out through their online portal? Sometimes you can get more detailed info that way, and if you're lucky, someone competent might respond to your message.

I've been dealing with benefit amount issues for MONTHS. It's a nightmare. I've found that being super specific about what you need and having all your docs ready can help. Also, ask for a supervisor if the rep seems clueless.

THIS 👆 Always ask for a supervisor. They usually know more and can actually make decisions.

Yep, document everything too. Names, dates, what was said. It helps if you need to escalate later.

Ok, here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: paystubs, W2s, any correspondence you've received. 2. Write down exactly what your issue is and what resolution you're seeking. 3. Call early in the morning, right when they open. 4. Be polite but firm. If the rep can't help, ask for a supervisor. 5. Take notes during the call: rep's name, ID number, what they tell you. 6. If you still can't get help, consider reaching out to your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can cut through red tape. 7. As a last resort, file a formal complaint. Sometimes this can get your case flagged for review. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is designed to be frustrating, but you've got this. 💪

Contacting your state rep is underrated. They helped me resolve an issue that had been dragging on for weeks.

anyone else feel like were living in a kafka novel trying to deal with this bureaucracy? its absurd that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get whats rightfully ours

For real. Sometimes I think they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits 🤔

Have you checked if there's a local legal aid office that can help? Sometimes they offer free assistance with benefit issues.

I'm in the same boat. Been trying to sort out my benefit amount for weeks. The whole system needs an overhaul. Hang in there, OP!

Plot twist: what if we all show up at their office in person? They can't ignore us then! 😂

Lmao imagine the chaos. But for real, sometimes going in person can actually work if you have an office nearby.
