NYDOL: Can't get help with Aug 1 benefits, phone reps unhelpful. What to do?

I just got off the phone with unemployment and I'm so frustrated. I've been trying to get help with my benefits from August 1st, but I feel like I'm getting nowhere. The person I talked to couldn't give me the information I needed. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to actually get some answers?

I found a way to solve unemployment benefits delay issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTCcSLsvc24

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with the same issue for months now. It's like talking to a brick wall sometimes. Have you tried calling at different times of the day? I heard early morning might be better.

I've tried calling at different times, but it's always the same result. Either I can't get through or when I do, they can't help me. It's so frustrating!

Early morning definitely worked for me! I called right when they opened and got through in like 15 minutes. Maybe give that a shot?

Thanks for the tip! I'll try calling right when they open tomorrow. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment? That's ridiculous!

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. For me, it was worth the $20 to finally talk to someone.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You go to their website, choose the department you want to call, pay the fee, and then they start calling for you. When they get a real person, they connect the call to your phone. They don't guarantee it, but they keep trying until they get through or give you a refund.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through when you're stuck in bureaucratic limbo.

The whole system is broken af 🤡 I've been waiting since July to get my benefits sorted out. It's like they don't even care that people are struggling to pay bills and buy food.

Preach! 🙌 It's a total joke. They expect us to live on air while they take their sweet time "processing" our claims.

Have you guys tried the online portal? Sometimes you can get more info there than from the phone reps.

Yeah, I've tried the portal. It's useless. Just says my claim is "pending" with no other info. 🙄

Here's what worked for me after months of getting nowhere: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of every call, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Use the online portal to submit questions in writing. This creates a paper trail. 3. If you're not getting answers, file a formal complaint through their website. 4. Reach out to your state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can cut through the red tape. 5. If all else fails, consider contacting local media. Sometimes public pressure can get things moving. 6. Join Facebook groups or forums for unemployment issues in your state. Other people might have insider tips. 7. Be persistent but polite. The people on the phone aren't personally responsible for the system's failures. It's a frustrating process, but don't give up. You're entitled to these benefits, and with persistence, you can get them sorted out.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'm definitely going to try some of these strategies. The idea of contacting my state rep hadn't even occurred to me.

Has anyone had luck with the callback feature? I've been waiting for 3 days now and still no call...

I waited a week for a callback and when they finally called, I missed it because it came from an unknown number. Now I'm back at square one. 😭

Pro tip: add the unemployment office number to your contacts so you don't miss the call!

Guys, I hate to say it, but sometimes you gotta play hardball. I threatened to file a complaint with the Department of Labor and suddenly my issue got resolved real quick. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself!

This! 👆 Sometimes you need to make a little noise to get results.

Anyone else notice that the info on the website contradicts what the phone reps say half the time? It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing 🤦‍♂️
