EDD Nightmare: Disconnected 9 times trying to continue benefits. Any tips to actually reach a human?

Has anyone else had trouble getting through to continue their benefits? I've been trying for days and it's been a nightmare. Yesterday I got disconnected nine times, put on hold forever, and told to hang up and start over each time. The call quality was terrible too - all static and then it just cut off. I'm at my wits end here. Any advice on how to actually reach a human?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so broken rn. I spent 3 hours on hold last week only to get cut off right when someone picked up. It's like they're trying to make it impossible 🤬

3 hours? You got lucky. I've been trying for TWO WEEKS straight. This is ridiculous!

Same boat here. Its like playing the lottery, except the prize is just talking to a human 🙄

Oof, 2 weeks? That's rough buddy. Idk how they expect ppl to survive like this

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's highway robbery when we're already struggling!

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me days of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take for them to get through?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when they had someone on the line.

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last Tuesday. Seems like the wait times are shorter early in the morning.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire system. It's not just you - everyone I know is having the same issues. We need to bombard our representatives with complaints until something changes.

100% agree. But good luck getting anything done in this political climate 🙄

I've been emailing my rep every week. No response yet, but I'm not giving up!

Have you tried using the online portal instead of calling? I know it's not perfect, but I've had better luck submitting questions through there than trying to get someone on the phone.

I tried that first, but my issue requires talking to someone. The automated system just keeps giving me the runaround 😩

The online portal is a joke. Half the time it's down for "maintenance" 🙄

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for months: • Call during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening) • Have all your info ready before you call • Be persistent - sometimes you have to try multiple days in a row • Use the callback feature if it's offered • Document everything - write down who you talked to and when • If all else fails, contact your local representative's office It's a pain, but don't give up. Your benefits are important and you deserve to get this sorted out. Good luck!

This is gold 💯 Saving this for later, thx!

Great advice. I'd add: be nice to the reps when you do get through. They're dealing with this broken system too.

Anyone else think its sus that they make it this hard? Like, are they hoping we'll just give up and go away? 🤔

Nah, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. The system is just outdated and overwhelmed.

Idk man, seems pretty convenient for them if people just stop trying to get their benefits...

lmao imagine if other services worked like this. "Sorry, we can only take 5 orders at McDonalds today. Please try again tomorrow!" 🤡
