EDD payment sent but missing from Money Network card - check or wrong deposit method?

I'm so confused about my EDD payment right now! My UI Online account clearly shows that a payment of $645 was issued yesterday, but when I checked my Money Network card balance this morning, nothing's there. The weird thing is I got a replacement card about 5 weeks ago (had to request it after my wallet was stolen), and my previous payments were loading fine on the new card. I'm starting to panic because rent is due next week. Does anyone know if this means they randomly decided to mail me a paper check instead? Or is there some way to see exactly WHERE they sent the payment? I don't recall ever setting up direct deposit to a bank account, but maybe I did? Help!

Thanks, I'll check that right now. I honestly can't remember if I ever set up direct deposit. Do you know if there's anywhere in UI Online that shows WHERE each payment was actually sent?

There are a few possibilities here: 1. Sometimes there's a 24-48 hour delay between when EDD issues the payment and when it posts to your Money Network card. I'd wait one more business day before getting too worried. 2. Check your payment preferences in UI Online. Click on "Payment Methods" under "More Services" to see if you have direct deposit set up. If so, it will show the last 4 digits of the account. 3. If the payment preference shows Money Network but the funds aren't there, call Money Network customer service at 1-866-898-2213 to verify if they see a pending deposit. 4. In rare cases, EDD will issue a paper check if there's a flag on your electronic payment method, but this is uncommon with an active Money Network card.

This!! When I was on unemployment last fall, there was one random payment that took almost 3 days to hit my card even though UI Online said it was paid. Don't panic yet!

The EDD system is totally broken. They're probably "reviewing" your payment for no reason and didn't bother to tell you. I had THREE payments randomly sent as checks even though I had a card. No notification, no explanation, nothing. Then they took 2 weeks to arrive. CALL THEM!!!

Oh no, that sounds awful! Did you ever find out why they randomly switched to checks? I've been trying to call but can't get through...

I work with EDD claims regularly and can tell you that UI Online actually has a section where you can see exactly how each payment was sent. Go to Payment Activity, find the payment in question, and click on "Payment Details" - it should show the payment method selected. If it says "Debit Card," it was sent to Money Network. If it says "Check," they mailed a paper check. If it says "Direct Deposit," it went to a bank account. If it's showing as sent to your debit card but not appearing, there are three common reasons: 1. Processing delay (1-2 business days) 2. A hold on the Money Network side (call them directly) 3. Your card might be inactive or have reached a balance limit I'd recommend calling Money Network first since it's easier to get through to them than EDD. If they don't see the pending deposit after 48 hours, then you definitely need to contact EDD.

Thank you! I checked Payment Details and it says "Debit Card" so that means it should be going to my Money Network card. I'll give them a call and see what's going on. Really appreciate the detailed explanation!

Have you tried using the AskEDD feature online? Sometimes faster than calling. But honestly waiting another day is probably all you need to do. The system always says "paid" before the money actually shows up.

AskEDD is useless lol. They send an automated response and you wait 2 weeks for a real answer. By then the problem is either fixed or you're evicted.

If you're trying to reach EDD by phone, I highly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the exact same situation last month - payment showed sent but wasn't on my card. I tried calling EDD for 3 days with no luck, then used Claimyr and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who confirmed my payment had actually been sent to my old card that was reported stolen! They had to cancel that transaction and reissue it to my new card. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Seriously saved me from missing rent. The agent told me this happens pretty often with replacement cards.

That's really helpful! I'm going to try Money Network first as someone suggested, but if they can't help, I'll definitely check out Claimyr. Getting sent to the old card makes a lot of sense actually, since I did have to report it stolen. Thanks for the tip!

Just wanted to give you an update, I had a very similar issue last week. Called Money Network this morning and they told me the payment WAS actually pending on my account but wouldn't be visible until it fully processed. The customer service rep said sometimes the UI Online system shows "paid" status before it completes the full transfer to Money Network. My payment showed up today, about 48 hours after UI Online said it was issued. Hang in there!

Thanks so much for the update! That's really reassuring. I'll wait until tomorrow morning before I start really worrying then. Appreciate you taking the time to come back and share your experience!

UPDATE: Problem solved! After I called Money Network, they confirmed the payment was actually sent to my old card number (the stolen one). The rep was super helpful and said this happens frequently with replacement cards. They're canceling that transaction and EDD will automatically reissue the payment to my current card within 2-3 business days. Thanks everyone for your help!

Great news! To prevent this from happening again, make sure you update your card information in UI Online too. Go to "Payment Methods" and verify they have your current card number on file. Glad you got it sorted out!

So glad you got this resolved! This is exactly why I always recommend calling Money Network first before panicking about EDD - they're way easier to reach and can usually tell you exactly what's happening with your payment. The replacement card issue is super common and it's frustrating that the systems don't sync up automatically. Hopefully the reissue comes through quickly for you!

Totally agree! I'm new to this whole EDD process and had no idea Money Network customer service was even an option. This thread has been super educational - seems like a lot of payment issues are actually on the Money Network side rather than EDD itself. Definitely bookmarking this for future reference!

This is such a great resource! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now where my payment shows as issued but hasn't hit my card yet. Reading through all the responses here has really helped me understand the process better. It sounds like calling Money Network directly is definitely the way to go - I had no idea they could see pending transactions that aren't visible on the card yet. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, especially Emma for keeping us updated on how it got resolved!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I just started receiving EDD payments last month and honestly had no idea how the whole Money Network system worked. Reading everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful - especially learning that there can be delays between when UI Online shows "paid" and when the money actually appears on the card. The tip about calling Money Network directly instead of trying to reach EDD is gold! I'm definitely saving this thread for future reference. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and helping newcomers like me navigate this confusing system!

This whole thread is incredibly helpful! As someone who's been on unemployment for about 6 months now, I can confirm that the Money Network delays are super common. I've had probably 4-5 payments that showed "issued" in UI Online but took 2-3 days to actually appear on my card. The key thing I learned (the hard way) is to always call Money Network first - their customer service is actually pretty decent and they can see pending transactions that don't show up in your balance yet. Also, for anyone else reading this, ALWAYS update your payment method in UI Online when you get a replacement card! I made that mistake once and had the same issue as Emma. The EDD system doesn't automatically know about your new card number even if Money Network issued it. Great job getting it sorted out!

This is exactly the kind of detailed advice I wish I had when I first started dealing with EDD! I'm pretty new to unemployment benefits and honestly felt so lost when my first payment didn't show up right away. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been a huge relief - it's good to know that delays are normal and there are actual steps you can take to figure out what's happening. The tip about updating payment methods after getting a replacement card is something I definitely wouldn't have thought of. Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their knowledge - this community is such a lifesaver for people trying to navigate this confusing system!

This thread has been incredibly educational! I'm fairly new to receiving EDD benefits and had a similar scare about a week ago when my payment showed as issued but didn't appear on my Money Network card for almost 72 hours. Reading through everyone's experiences here really helped me understand that these delays are actually pretty normal. The advice about calling Money Network first instead of EDD is spot on - I was able to get through to them in about 10 minutes and they confirmed my payment was just processing. It's also really helpful to know about the Payment Details section in UI Online that shows exactly how each payment was sent. Thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge, and Emma, glad you got your issue resolved! This community is such a great resource for navigating all the confusing aspects of the EDD system.

I'm so grateful I found this thread! I just filed my first unemployment claim a few weeks ago and have been absolutely terrified about potential payment issues. Reading through everyone's experiences has been incredibly reassuring - especially knowing that delays between UI Online showing "paid" and the money actually hitting your Money Network card are totally normal. The step-by-step advice about checking Payment Details and calling Money Network first is exactly what I needed to know. It's also really helpful to understand that replacement card issues are common and that you need to manually update your payment info in UI Online. Thanks to everyone for creating such a supportive and informative discussion - this kind of real-world knowledge is so much more valuable than the confusing official EDD documentation!

This thread is a goldmine of information! I just started my EDD claim process last month and honestly had no clue about any of these Money Network nuances. The fact that there can be 24-48 hour delays even when UI Online shows "paid" is something I wish I'd known earlier - I was panicking when my first payment took two days to show up! The advice about calling Money Network directly at 1-866-898-2213 instead of trying to reach EDD is incredibly valuable. I also had no idea about the Payment Details feature in UI Online that shows exactly where each payment was sent. Bookmarking this whole discussion for future reference. Emma, so glad you got everything sorted out - your updates throughout the thread were really helpful for understanding the whole process!

This entire discussion has been so eye-opening! I'm brand new to the unemployment system and honestly felt completely overwhelmed by all the different moving parts - UI Online, Money Network, payment methods, etc. Reading through everyone's real experiences has been way more helpful than any official guide I've found. The timeline breakdown of what to expect (24-48 hours for normal delays, calling Money Network first, checking Payment Details) gives me such a clear roadmap if I run into issues. I also appreciate how supportive everyone has been - it's clear this community really looks out for each other. Emma's situation with the replacement card going to the old card number is exactly the kind of thing I would never have thought could happen. Thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge and creating such a helpful resource for newcomers like me!
