EDD interview completed but UI Online showing old 2020 claim instead of new one - denied?
I'm freaking out a little and could use some insight. Had my eligibility phone interview with EDD last Friday. The interviewer told me that I'd either hear back within 10 days OR if approved, I'd be able to certify right away. I logged into UI Online this morning feeling hopeful, but instead of showing my current claim info (which was visible before the interview and showed my weekly benefit amount), it's only displaying my old claim from 2020! Nothing about my new claim is visible anymore. Does this mean I got denied? Has anyone experienced their current claim disappearing after an interview? I'm seriously worried because I was counting on these benefits after being laid off from my healthcare admin job last month.

Thank you, that gives me a little hope! Did your current claim info come back after disappearing? I'm just worried because it specifically reverted to showing ONLY my 2020 claim info.

The EDD system glitches ALL THE TIME!!! They're running on computers from the stone age I swear!! My claim disappeared for THREE DAYS after my interview and I was SURE I got denied but then everything came back plus my certifications were available!!! Don't trust anything you see until at least Tuesday - their systems update weird and the weekends are THE WORST!

That's exactly what I needed to hear. Three days of disappeared info and then it came back? That gives me hope! I'll try to be patient until Tuesday then. Did you get an official determination notice eventually?

Yeah I got the determination notice like 2 weeks later in the mail even though I could already certify! EDD does everything backwards I swear

This is actually a common UI Online display issue that happens after eligibility interviews. The system sometimes reverts to showing previous claim data while your current claim is being processed in their backend systems. It doesn't necessarily mean you were denied. Here's what I recommend:\n\n1. Wait 48-72 hours for the system to update (business days)\n2. Check your UI Online inbox for any new messages\n3. Look for a \

Thank you for the detailed response! This makes me feel better. I'll check for the certification button even though it's not showing my current claim. If I don't see any changes by Wednesday, I'll try calling. Would they send the denial determination electronically too or just through mail?

You'll usually get the determination notice both ways - electronically in your UI Online inbox AND through regular mail. The electronic notice often arrives faster, so keep checking your inbox. Some people report only seeing the electronic notice when they click on \

Ugh try calling EDD to find out what's going on. The exact thing happened to my brother after his interview. Turned out they needed additional employment verification but never told him!! He lost 3 weeks of benefits because he was waiting for something to change on the website. Don't make the same mistake.

That's concerning! Did they explain why they didn't notify him about needing additional verification? How long did he have to wait on the phone to get through?

I've been through this exact scenario. What you're experiencing is normal system behavior during the determination processing period. After an eligibility interview, there's typically a 3-5 business day processing window where the UI Online system may display outdated information or revert to previous claims.\n\nThe crucial thing to understand is that the interview is just one step - the interviewer collects information, but doesn't make the final determination on the spot. A separate adjudicator reviews everything before making a decision.\n\nIn my experience with hundreds of claimants, seeing old claim information temporarily doesn't indicate denial. You should see one of these outcomes by Thursday:\n\n1. Your current claim details will reappear with certification weeks available (approval)\n2. You'll receive a formal determination notice (approval or denial)\n3. The system will continue showing old information (still processing)\n\nIf option 3 happens, then it's appropriate to contact EDD directly by Thursday afternoon.

Wow, thank you for this detailed explanation! I didn't realize the interviewer and determination adjudicator were different people. That makes more sense why there's a delay. I'll wait until Thursday before getting too worried. Do you know if there's any way to check the status of the determination process without calling?

Unfortunately, there's no way to check the determination status online - that's one of the major flaws in the UI Online system. The only indicators are either the claim details returning to your dashboard or receiving a determination notice. \n\nOne additional tip: if you set up text/email alerts in your UI Online preferences, you'll sometimes get a notification when there's an update to your claim, though this feature is inconsistent at best.

My interview was on a Friday too and I couldn't see my claim all weekend, thought I got denied, nearly had a panic attack, then Monday morning everything was back AND I could certify! The interviewer told me 10 days too but I guess she just meant worst case. EDD's computer system is from like 1985 lol

Everyone is telling you to wait, but honestly this EXACT thing happened to me and it DID mean I was denied. The only old claim showing up was because my new claim was rejected. I wasted a week waiting for it to \

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of. Did you eventually find out why you were denied? Was there anything you could have done differently during the phone interview?

That's a fair point. In my case the current claim vanished completely and only my 2019 claim was visible. My denial was because I hadn't earned enough in my base period (missed it by like $300). But you're right that each case is different - I just wanted OP to know sometimes it's not just a glitch.

Yeah, you're right. I guess I'm just anxious because I've been without income for over a month now and bills are piling up. I'll try to be more patient.

This is really helpful context, thank you. I didn't realize showing the old claim during processing was so common. I'll keep checking my inbox and wait until Wednesday before taking any action. I appreciate the detailed explanation!
