EDD constantly marking posts as fraudulent - account review taking forever
Has anyone else been dealing with this ridiculous issue where EDD keeps flagging your weekly certifications as 'potentially fraudulent'? I've been on UI for nearly 2 months after my restaurant closed, and for the THIRD time now, my payment is on hold because of 'suspicious activity' that they never explain. My certifications are 100% honest - I report the exact hours I work at my part-time gig (about 15 hrs/week) and actively look for full-time work. I've uploaded my ID docs twice already through ID.me, and my claim still keeps getting flagged. Called the 800 number 27 times yesterday but can't get through to an actual person. My rent is due next week and I've got $143 left in my account. This system feels designed to prevent people from getting benefits they deserve!

3-4 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! Did you do anything special to get it resolved or just wait it out?

There's actually a specific reason this happens. When you work part-time hours while on unemployment, the system sometimes flags accounts that consistently report the same number of hours each week. It thinks you might be working full-time but only reporting part-time. Try uploading your most recent pay stubs to your UI Online account under

That actually makes sense! My hours have been exactly 15 per week for the past month. I'll try uploading my pay stubs right now. Thank you so much for the insight!

What are you talking about? This is literally what this forum is for - people helping each other navigate EDD problems. There's nothing wrong with this post.

I faced this exact problem for TWO MONTHS last year. The key is getting through to an actual EDD rep who can remove the flag manually. After trying for weeks with no success on the main line, I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a system that calls EDD for you and connects you when there's an actual rep available. Saved me hours of redial hell! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km\n\nOnce I got through to a rep, they removed the fraud flag in literally 5 minutes. The rep told me their automated system is incredibly sensitive right now due to all the fraud cases they dealt with during the pandemic.

Thank you SO MUCH for this tip! I just watched the video and I'm going to try Claimyr tomorrow morning. At this point I'll try anything to get this resolved quickly.

I have a pretty common name actually (John Smith - not my real name but similar level of common). That could definitely be part of the problem!

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!!! I worked at EDD for 6 years (quit in 2024) and I can tell you the internal motto was literally

While there are definitely problems with the system, this isn't accurate. I've worked part-time consistently for 8 months while on partial UI and never had a fraud flag. The system isn't perfect, but there's no internal policy to deliberately deny valid claims.

Just following up - were you able to get this resolved? The other commenter's suggestion about Claimyr is solid if you need to speak to someone directly. Also, make sure when you certify that you're documenting at least 3 work search activities each week in detail - sometimes the fraud flag gets triggered by minimal information in the work search fields.

YES! Success! I used Claimyr this morning and got through to a rep in about 20 minutes. She looked at my account and said the fraud flag was triggered by having the exact same hours reported for 4 weeks in a row. She manually reviewed my uploaded pay stubs and removed the hold. My payment is already pending in my account! Thank you all for the help - especially the Claimyr recommendation. Worth every penny to get this resolved before rent was due.
