EDD conditional payment approved yesterday - when will money arrive?
I'm so confused about my EDD claim status. It just changed to 'conditional payment' yesterday after being stuck in pending for 3 weeks. Does this mean I'll actually get paid while they're still figuring out my eligibility? Has anyone experienced this before? I'm desperate for the money to come through since my rent is due in 5 days. For those who've had conditional payments, how long did it take to hit your account/card? I'm in California using the Money Network card if that matters.

Conditional payment means EDD decided to pay you while they continue investigating your eligibility. They implemented this policy to avoid long delays for claimants. You should see the money within 24-48 hours on your Money Network card if it was approved yesterday. Just keep certifying as normal every two weeks. They might still determine you're ineligible later, in which case you'd have to pay it back.

•OMG thank you! That's such a relief to hear. So I should check my card tomorrow? I didn't get any email or text notification about the deposit yet.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE last month!!! Conditional payment is them paying you while they investigate. It's their newish policy because sooooo many people were waiting MONTHS for payments during the pandemic. The money showed up on my card about 36 hours after the status changed. BUT - fair warning - if they eventually decide you don't qualify, you'll have to pay it all back with a 30% penalty! Happened to my cousin. EDD system is a JOKE.

•theres no 30% penalty for regular conditional payments stop spreading wrong info, penalties only happen if they find fraud

•@profile7 That's what happened to my cousin though! They said he committed fraud because he didn't report some income or something. It definitely CAN happen is all I'm saying.

I went through conditional payment back in February. For me, it took exactly 2 days after approval for the money to hit my Money Network card. You might want to set up text alerts on your Money Network account to know exactly when it arrives. Just know that conditional doesn't guarantee permanent approval - I had to do an eligibility interview a month later, but they let me keep the money since I was truthful on my application.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll definitely set up those text alerts. Was your eligibility interview scary? I'm worried they might ask me questions I don't know how to answer.

•The interview was actually pretty straightforward. They just verified the reason for my job separation and asked about my work search efforts. As long as you're honest and can explain your situation clearly, you should be fine. Have your separation letter or any documentation ready when they call.

If you need to speak with an EDD representative to confirm when your payment will arrive or have other questions about your conditional payment status, I'd recommend using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation and couldn't get through on the regular EDD lines for days. Claimyr helped me get connected to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending hours redialing. Their video explains how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and their website is claimyr.com. The agent I spoke with was able to tell me exactly when my payment would post and what to expect next with the conditional payment.

•Is that service legit? I've seen it mentioned before but was nervous about using a third party.

When I had conditional payments they came through really fast, like next day. But then I had to do this whole eligibility interview thing a few weeks later where they asked about why I left my job. I was super worried they'd make me pay it back but everything worked out ok. Just make sure you're available when they call for the interview because if you miss it they can deny everything!

UPDATE: The money just hit my card this morning! That was about 36 hours after the status changed to conditional payment. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help. Now I'm just wondering what happens next... should I expect an eligibility interview soon?

•Great news! Yes, you'll likely get a notice about an eligibility interview in the next 2-4 weeks. Just keep an eye on your UI Online inbox and your mail. Continue certifying every two weeks as normal. The interview is usually just to verify the reason for your job separation and confirm the information on your application is accurate.

•Perfect, thank you! I'll make sure to watch for that notice and be prepared for the interview.
