EDD certification - payment hits Monday or Tuesday this Easter holiday week?
Can someone clarify when EDD payments are coming this week? I certified yesterday (Sunday) like normal, but with Easter I'm not sure if the payment schedule changes. Usually see my funds on Monday night or early Tuesday. Need to plan for some bills due Wednesday. Anyone know if the holiday delays things by a day? Just switched to direct deposit from Money Network card last month, so not sure if that makes it different too.

•Thanks for the info! Guess I'll plan for Tuesday then. Just nervous because I've got that PG&E bill that's already on final notice.

If you certified on Sunday, the payment will typically be processed Monday and then deposit timing depends on your payment method. Direct deposit usually takes an extra business day compared to the Money Network card. Since you recently switched from Money Network to direct deposit, you should expect payment on Tuesday, possibly Wednesday because of the holiday. The EDD system processes claims on schedule, but banking holidays can delay when funds actually appear in your account. Easter Monday isn't a federal banking holiday but some financial institutions may have modified processing schedules this week.

•This happened to me last month...certified Sunday and money didn't show up until WEDNESDAY! EDD said it was processed on their end but my bank held it for some reason. So annoying.

Just to add some clarification - Easter Monday isn't an official bank holiday, but sometimes ACH transfers are slower that week. When I called EDD about a similar issue last year, they told me payments are processed on their normal schedule (they mark it as "paid" in the system), but the actual deposit timing is up to your bank. If you check your UI Online account and it shows "paid" status but you don't see the money, it's in transit. With direct deposit, it typically takes 24-48 hours after the payment shows as "paid" in the system. If you're really concerned, you can actually check the payment status in your UI Online account under "Payment Activity."

•Just checked UI Online and it still says pending! Guess that means they haven't even processed it on their end yet. Ugh, this is stressful.

the edd system is such a joke!!! i switched to direct deposit and had to wait FIVE DAYS for my money to show up the first time. they NEVER tell you that can happen. went back to money network after that because at least it was consistent.

•Same! My first direct deposit took forever but now it's always Tuesday morning like clockwork. Think the first one just takes longer to set up or something.

If you're having trouble reaching EDD to check on your payment status, I found Claimyr really helpful. It got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes last week when I had a similar issue with my payment timing after switching payment methods. Saved me hours of redial frustration. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km that shows how it works. The website is claimyr.com - definitely worth it when you need to talk to someone at EDD urgently about payment issues.

•Thanks for the tip! If my payment doesn't show up by Wednesday morning I might need to try that. Did they actually help solve your payment issue or just tell you to wait?

•They helped solve it! The EDD rep was able to see exactly where my payment was in the system and confirmed it was on the way. They also noted in my account that I had called about it, which seemed to speed things up somehow. Money showed up the next day.

My brother works at a bank and he says Easter Monday doesn't affect direct deposits! But some banks batch process overnight so sometimes Tuesday morning is when you actually see the $$ even though it technically arrives Monday. Hope that helps!

Update for everyone following this thread: I just checked with EDD through my UI Online account, and holiday payment processing for Easter 2025 is following the normal schedule. If your certification is processed without issues: - Money Network card payments typically post Monday evening - Direct deposit payments typically post Tuesday morning to Wednesday (depending on your bank) If your payment shows "pending" for more than 72 hours after certification, that could indicate an eligibility issue that needs attention.

•Thanks for checking! Mine finally switched from pending to paid about an hour ago, so sounds like I'll probably see the deposit tomorrow. Really appreciate everyone's help!
