EDD call keeps disconnecting - can't update claim info. Any tips to actually reach someone?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I tried calling to update some info, but the call kept getting disconnected and I couldn't hear any audio. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to actually get through and speak to someone?

Ugh, welcome to the club. 🙄 The EDD phone system is a total nightmare. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone.

For real tho. Its like they purposely make it impossible to reach a human. I swear they just want us to give up

Same boat here. Been calling non-stop for days and either get disconnected or put on hold for hours. This system is so broken 😤

Ikr? It's beyond frustrating. I've started setting alarms to call at different times, but no luck so far. Anyone know if there's a secret best time to call? 🤔

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. How do we know its not a scam?

I get the skepticism, but I promise it's legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying and it actually worked for me. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically their system keeps dialing and navigating the phone tree until it detects a live agent. Then it calls you and connects you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had some luck getting through first thing in the morning, like right at 8 AM. Still takes a few tries sometimes, but better than midday.

Pro tip: use multiple phones to call at the same time. Increases your chances of getting through. I use my cell, work phone, and even my old landline lol. Eventually one of them connects!

I feel your pain, OP. The whole system is a joke. I've been trying to update my claim for months now. Between the website glitches and the impossible phone lines, it's like they're actively trying to prevent us from getting help. Anyone else considering just giving up? 😩

Don't give up! I know it sucks, but keep trying. Have you reached out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll look into contacting my rep. At this point, I'm willing to try anything!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Try calling at off-peak hours. Early morning or late afternoon can sometimes work. 3. When you do get through, be super nice to the rep. They're probably overwhelmed too. 4. Have all your info ready before you call. Claim number, ID, dates, everything. 5. If one rep can't help, politely ask to speak to a tier 2 specialist. 6. Document everything. Write down who you talked to and what they said. 7. Check your online account regularly for updates or messages. 8. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member or state senator for help. Hope this helps someone. Stay strong, we're all in this together! 💪

Great advice. Wish I had known all this months ago. The tier 2 specialist tip is clutch!

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" whenever you actually need to use it? 🙄 It's like they're trolling us at this point.

Omg yes! And it's always at the most inconvenient times too. Like, do they not want us to certify or what?

Plot twist: the website is actually just one old computer in someone's basement and it overheats if too many people use it at once 😂

Hey OP, have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at the official EDD account or messaging them on Facebook can get a response. It's not guaranteed, but worth a shot if you're desperate.
