EDD Claim Pending for Weeks - Can't Reach Anyone on Phone - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated. My unemployment claim has been pending for weeks now and I can't seem to get through to anyone on the phone. I've tried calling multiple times but always get stuck on hold or disconnected. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually speak with a real person at the unemployment office?

It's hard not to feel that way. I wish there was more transparency about their processes.

Has anyone else noticed that the website is always "down for maintenance" at the most inconvenient times? It's like they're trolling us at this point 🙄

It's frustrating for sure. Maybe they should improve their infrastructure with all the demand.

Guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken we have to PAY just to get help? smh

I get the skepticism, but I swear it's legit. I was desperate and tried it. Got through in like 30 mins. Worth it for me to finally get my claim sorted.

I did some research and Claimyr seems to have positive reviews. People report genuine success, but it's always wise to be cautious with third-party services.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open (8am in my state) 2. If you get the "too many callers" message, hang up and redial immediately 3. Keep doing this until you get in the queue 4. Once in queue, DO NOT HANG UP no matter how long the wait 5. Have all your info ready when you finally get through It took me about 2 hours of redialing, but I finally got through. Good luck!

Okay, here's the deal. I used to work for the unemployment office (quit cuz it was a nightmare). Here's some insider tips: 1. Avoid calling on Mondays and Tuesdays. Those are the busiest days. 2. If you can, try calling around 10:30am or 2:30pm. That's usually when there's a shift change and more agents available. 3. When you get through, be super nice to the agent. They deal with angry people all day and are more likely to go the extra mile if you're pleasant. 4. Have a clear, concise explanation of your issue ready. The quicker they understand your problem, the faster they can help. 5. If your claim is complex, ask for a tier 2 specialist right away. Not all agents can handle all issues. Hope this helps someone. The system sucks, but there are good people trying their best on the other end of the line.

This is super helpful, thank you! Quick question - what counts as a "complex" claim that would need a tier 2 specialist?

A complex claim might involve unique circumstances like mixed income, appeals, or a dispute over eligibility. It's best to ask when you get through.

Unpopular opinion: maybe if we all stopped trying to game the system and call 500 times a day, it would be easier for everyone to get through? Just a thought.

Bruh, we wouldn't NEED to call 500 times if the system worked properly in the first place

I'm just saying, maybe we're part of the problem? 🤷♀️ Don't shoot the messenger

While it's a valid point, the root cause is the system's inefficiency, not the people needing help.

Hey OP, glad you got through! For anyone else still struggling, don't forget to check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important EDD emails end up there and you miss crucial info or deadlines.

Good reminder! I've missed important emails before because of this.

Update: I finally got through using a combo of your suggestions! Called right at 8am, used the 999999999 SSN trick, and got an agent in about 20 minutes. They were able to push my claim through. Thanks everyone for your help! 🎉

I feel your pain. The system is totally broken. I've had better luck reaching out to my local representative's office. They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push your claim through.

Whoa, really? How do you even find out who your local rep is?

Just google "[your city] state representative". Most have websites with contact info. Give em a call or email, explain your situation. They're usually pretty helpful.

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes publicly calling them out gets their attention. Worth a shot if nothing else is working.

Pro tip: if you have any kind of disability (including anxiety or depression), mention it when you call. They're required to give priority to people with disabilities. Helped me get through faster.

Is that for real? Seems kinda like cheating the system...

It's not cheating if you actually have a disability. And let's be real, this whole unemployment mess is giving everyone anxiety and depression 🤷♂️

Anyone else feel like they're trapped in a Kafka novel trying to deal with unemployment? It's absurd how difficult they make this process.

I feel ya, OP. The whole system is a joke. I've been pending for 2 months now, rent is due, and I'm about to be living in my car. America, land of the free, home of the "go f*** yourself if you're unemployed" 🙃

Welcome to the club, buddy. We're all in the same boat here. I've been trying to get through for over a month now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach them. 🤔

I've been in this loop too. It's like a never-ending cycle of hold music and frustration. Has anyone thought to file a formal complaint?
