EDD asking for paystubs after March 12 despite pending weeks - Am I still eligible?
I received a notice from EDD saying I need to provide paystubs for work performed after March 12, 2025, but I'm really confused about my eligibility status. The message specifically says I'm not eligible, yet they're still asking for these documents? I have several weeks showing as 'pending' in my UI Online account that haven't been paid out. I don't understand if this means I'm actually disqualified or if providing these paystubs might change something. I tried reaching out through UI Online messaging but haven't heard back. I also couldn't respond to an earlier determination notice they sent. Has anyone dealt with this kind of conflicting information from EDD before? I'm worried about losing those pending payments if I don't respond correctly.

They always do this! Say ur not eligible but then ask for more stuff anyway. Classic EDD run around. I'd just send whatever u have and see what happens.

•Thanks for responding. Do you think this means there's still a chance they might approve my claim if I send the paystubs? I'm just worried about wasting time if they've already decided I'm disqualified.

This actually sounds like a mixed determination situation. EDD may have found you ineligible for a specific period but potentially eligible for others, which would explain why they're asking for paystubs after March 12. Your 'pending' weeks might be for different claim periods that require additional verification. I'd recommend: 1. Submit all requested paystubs through UI Online (upload section) 2. Be sure they clearly show your name, employer name, pay period, and earnings 3. Send a follow-up message through UI Online explaining you've uploaded the documents 4. Keep certifying for any weeks you believe you're eligible, even with this confusion It's common for claims to have split determinations where some weeks qualify and others don't.

•Thank you so much for explaining this! I didn't realize they could approve some weeks and deny others. I'll upload everything right away. Do you know roughly how long they usually take to review these additional documents?

had the exact same thing happen!!! they said i wasnt eligible for regular ui but then asked for my paystubs and bank statements from after march anyway. turns out they were considering me for a different type of claim. make sure ur sending EVERYTHING they ask for or theyll just deny u automatically

•This is exactly right. EDD often reviews for multiple programs simultaneously. What likely happened is you were denied for regular UI but are being considered for an alternate program like State Disability Insurance (SDI) or Paid Family Leave (PFL). The March 12 date is significant because it's likely the start of a new quarter that affects your base period calculation. When you submit those paystubs, include a clear explanation of your work history and any gaps. This helps them properly calculate your eligibility for the alternative program they're considering you for.

ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE it says you're not eligible? Or does it say "may not be eligible"? The wording matters A LOT with EDD notices! I got one that said I "may not be eligible" but then after submitting docs they paid me. Their letters are SUPER confusing and contradict themselves all the time!!! Could you maybe post exactly what the notice says (without any personal info of course)???

•You know what, I'm going to double-check when I get home. It's possible I misread it in my panic. You're right that the exact wording could make a big difference. I'll update once I look at it again.

This is a standard verification process when there's a discrepancy between your reported wages and what employers reported to EDD. The notice means you're conditionally ineligible based on current information, but they're giving you an opportunity to provide documentation that could overturn that determination. The March 12 date is significant because it marks the beginning of a new quarter for benefit calculations. By requesting documents after this date, they're likely checking if you qualify under the alternate base period calculation method, which could make you eligible even if you didn't qualify under the standard base period. Do not ignore this request, as submitting these documents could be the difference between approval and denial.

•This makes sense. I worked part-time for two different employers during the period they're asking about, so maybe that's causing the confusion. Should I submit paystubs from both jobs? And do you know if images of my paystubs from my employer's online portal are acceptable, or do they need to be official paper copies?

I've been dealing with EDD for years now and honestly the fastest way to get this resolved is to talk to someone directly. I wasted 3 weeks trying to get through on their regular line before I found Claimyr (claimyr.com). It got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes who explained exactly what was going on with my claim status and what docs I needed to submit. They have a video demo of how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep I spoke with actually cleared up a similar confusion where I was getting contradictory information. Turns out in my case they had processed my claim under the wrong program initially.

•It worked for me twice now. Better than spending all day hitting redial. The first time I got someone who wasn't very helpful, but I just called back and the second person fixed everything.

•I hope it's that simple! I'm going to upload everything tonight and hopefully that resolves it. Thanks for the reassurance.

Quick update on timing expectations: With these verification requests, EDD typically takes 7-10 business days to review the documents you submit. However, during high volume periods, it can take up to 3 weeks. You can check your UI Online account daily for status changes, as they don't always send notifications when they make decisions. Make sure your paystubs clearly show your name, employer name/info, pay period dates, hours worked, and earnings. If your paystubs are from an online portal, that's perfectly fine as long as they contain all that information. Screenshots are acceptable if they're clearly legible. If you worked for multiple employers during that period, yes, submit paystubs from ALL of them. Missing documentation from even one employer could delay your claim further.

•Thank you so much for this detailed information! I have paystubs from both employers, so I'll make sure to submit everything. Really appreciate everyone's help - I feel much more confident about handling this now.
