EDD asking for W2 after I already sent ID verification - what email address to use?
I'm really confused right now. I submitted my claim a week ago and got notified that I needed to verify my identity. I sent in my ID and birth certificate along with a recent pay stub through the UI Online portal, but just got another message saying they need my W2 form too. The problem is I can't figure out where to send it! The notification doesn't give an email address and the portal won't let me upload any more documents. I tried calling but keep getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message. Has anyone dealt with this recently? What's the correct email to send additional verification documents to EDD? I'm worried my claim will be delayed or denied if I don't get this W2 to them ASAP!

•Are you sure? The letter specifically mentioned I could email it. I just can't find which address to use. I'm worried about mailing it because it might take too long and I've already been waiting 3 weeks for any payment.

The email for submitting additional identity verification documents is typically UI_ASSIST@edd.ca.gov. Make sure to include your full name, the last 4 digits of your SSN, and your EDD Customer Account Number in the subject line. This helps them match your documents to your claim file more efficiently. Also, when you email documents, convert everything to PDF format and make sure the files are clear and legible. I had to submit additional documents last month and using this email worked for me. They confirmed receipt within 48 hours.

•Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. I'll send my W2 to that email address right away with all my information in the subject line. Did you get a confirmation email back when you sent your documents? I just want to make sure they actually receive it.

•Yes, I received an automated confirmation email first, then about 2 days later got a personalized response saying they'd added the documents to my file. Make sure to keep checking your UI Online inbox too, as they sometimes send follow-up questions there rather than by email.

I had the EXACT same issue last month! Sent in all my docs and then they wanted MORE. I kept calling and calling but never got through until I used Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to an actual EDD rep in about 20 minutes who confirmed my documents and processed my claim on the spot. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Saved me weeks of waiting and stress. The rep even gave me her direct extension for follow-up questions.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try emailing first, but if I don't hear back in a few days I might try this service. Did they actually solve your problem or just connect you to EDD?

•They just connected me to an actual EDD rep, but that was all I needed! The rep confirmed receipt of my documents right away and processed my claim while I was on the phone. Beats waiting weeks for an email response or mailing things in.

You can also upload additional documents through your UI Online account. Log in, go to "Upload Documents" in the menu, and select "Identity Verification" as the document type. The system limits you to 4MB per file, so you might need to compress your W2 scan if it's too large. If that doesn't work for some reason, the UI_ASSIST@edd.ca.gov email is correct as mentioned above. Just make sure to include your claim information in both the subject line and body of the email. Additionally, you could fax your documents to the Identity Verification Department at 1-866-215-9159. Many people forget about this option, but it's sometimes faster than mail and more reliable than email.

•I tried the Upload Documents section already but it says I've reached the maximum number of uploads for identity verification. I'll try the email address first since that seems easiest. Thank you for the fax number too - that's a good backup option I didn't think about!

NOBODY at EDD knows what they're doing!!! I sent my W2 THREE TIMES and they still kept saying they never got it. Then they disqualified my claim for "failure to provide documentation" even though I sent everything they asked for! Now I'm stuck in appeals hell for the next 3 months. The whole system is designed to make you give up. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING and keep copies of ALL emails you send them!!!

•This happened to me too! But I eventually got it resolved. Make sure you're scanning your documents clearly (not just taking photos with your phone) and follow up by phone 3-5 business days after sending. The key is getting a confirmation number for everything you submit. Without that, they can claim they never received anything.

UPDATE: I emailed my W2 to UI_ASSIST@edd.ca.gov yesterday with all my info in the subject line like suggested. Got an auto-reply saying they received it, and this morning my UI Online account status changed from "Pending Identity Verification" to "Processing Payment"! Thank you everyone for your help!
