EDD underpaid me due to missing wages - can't reach anyone to fix it!

I'm at my wits end trying to get my claim fixed! I started receiving benefits last month but I immediately noticed the weekly payment is only $450 when it should be MUCH higher based on my income. After checking my claim details, I saw they're completely missing wages from my second job (I worked two part-time positions in my base period). This missing income has seriously affected my benefit amount. I've tried EVERYTHING to reach EDD: - Called the main number 30+ times over 3 weeks (always get the "we're experiencing high call volume" message) - Sent a message through UI Online (no response after 3 weeks) - Mailed a wage verification form with copies of my W2s to the address on the website (mailed 5 weeks ago, nothing) - Even tried calling right when they open at 8am (still couldn't get through) I'm falling behind on bills because I'm getting way less than I should be. Has anyone successfully gotten EDD to recalculate their weekly benefit amount after they missed wages? What actually works to get them to fix this?? I'm desperate!

Same thing happened 2 me last year!! They missed an ENTIRE quarter of wages from my claim. It took forever to fix but I finally got it sorted and got backpay for the difference. u gotta be super persistent

How did you finally get it fixed? I've tried everything I can think of but can't get anyone to actually look at my claim!

You need to file a specific form called the "Wage Investigation" form (DE 1326E). This is different from just sending in your W2s. You can download it from the EDD website, fill it out with all your missing employment info, and upload it directly to your UI Online account under "Upload Document". Make sure to include: - The employer name exactly as it appears on your paystubs - Their EDD employer account number if you have it - The exact quarters where wages are missing - Copies of paystubs from those quarters After uploading, follow up with a message in UI Online specifically referencing the form number and date you submitted it. They should recalculate within 10-14 days once they have the proper form. If they don't, you'll need to try to speak with a tier 2 specialist.

Thank you so much for this detailed info! I had no idea there was a specific form. I'll download it right now and submit it through UI Online with all my documentation. Fingers crossed they actually review it this time.

OMG I'm dealing with the EXACT same problem!!! Been trying to call for 2 weeks straight and can never get through!!! It's so frustrating I could scream. They're missing an entire job from my claim calculation and I'm getting $350 less each week than I should be. How is anyone supposed to survive on these tiny payments when they can't even calculate them correctly????

Make sure you're submitting the DE 1326E form as I mentioned above. Just calling won't solve this particular issue - they need the specific form to trigger a wage investigation.

I successfully had my WBA increased last year after EDD initially missed wages from one of my employers. Here's what worked for me: 1. Submit the DE 1326E form (Wage Investigation) through UI Online 2. Wait 10 business days 3. If no response, you MUST speak with a Tier 2 specialist, not just any representative The regular representatives can't process wage recalculations - you need someone with higher access. The problem is getting through the phone system to reach them. I spent weeks trying to call until I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They basically call EDD for you and connect you when they get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Once I got through to a Tier 2 specialist, they verified my additional wages on the spot and adjusted my claim. I received the difference in back payments about 5 days later. Don't give up - you are entitled to benefits based on ALL your qualifying wages!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I didn't realize I specifically needed a Tier 2 specialist. I'll check out that Claimyr service if I don't hear back after submitting the form. It would be worth it to finally get this fixed.

Why is everybody always complaining about EDD?? If you filed your taxes correctly and your employer reported your wages properly this wouldn't happen. I never had any problems with my claim. Just saying.

Are you kidding me right now? I filed everything correctly and my employer confirmed they reported everything properly to EDD. The system is completely overloaded and making errors all the time. Just because YOU didn't have issues doesn't mean the rest of us are doing something wrong. Some of us are literally struggling to pay rent because of THEIR mistakes!!!

That's not how it works. Even when employers and employees do everything right, EDD's system can still miss wages. It happens constantly, especially with multiple employers or if you worked in different counties. Their database doesn't always properly connect all your wages to your SSN in the initial claim calculation. That's literally why the wage investigation process exists.

Just to clarify something important - the wage investigation process has specific timeframes: 1. EDD has 10 business days to respond to a wage investigation request 2. If they determine you're owed additional benefits, they legally must pay the difference retroactively to all weeks already paid 3. If denied, you have 30 days to appeal the decision Make sure you keep documentation of when you submit everything. Also, the form needs to be filled out completely with exact dates of employment and employer information. Missing information will delay the process. One more tip: when you do get through to EDD, ask for the status of your wage investigation by the form number (DE 1326E) and submission date. This helps them locate it in their system faster.

I've just submitted the form with all my documentation. Thank you for explaining the timeline - that helps me know when to follow up if I don't hear back. I've saved copies of everything I submitted with dates. Really hoping they fix this soon!

anybody else think its weird how EDD always seems to make mistakes that give us LESS money but never mistakes that give us MORE? just sayin lol

hey OP just wondering did you get this resolved? im dealing with missing wages issue too & wanna know if the form thing actually worked

Update: I submitted the DE 1326E form through UI Online last week with all my documentation. Still haven't heard anything, but it hasn't been 10 business days yet. I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned and actually got through to EDD yesterday! The rep confirmed they received my wage investigation form and said it's in the queue for review. They couldn't tell me exactly when it would be processed but at least I know they have it. I'll post again when I get a final resolution!

This is such a common issue and it's really frustrating how hard it is to get through to EDD! I went through something similar last year where they missed wages from a temp agency I worked for. The DE 1326E form that others mentioned is definitely the right approach - that's what finally worked for me too. One thing I'd add is to make sure you have your employer's State Disability Insurance (SDI) number if possible, not just their name. You can usually find this on your paystubs. It helps EDD match your wages in their system faster. Also, if you worked through a staffing agency or temp service, make sure you list the actual company that paid you, not necessarily where you physically worked. The waiting is the worst part but don't give up! Once they actually process the wage investigation, the back pay comes pretty quickly. I got mine about a week after they approved the adjustment. Keep us posted on how it goes!

That's really good advice about the SDI number! I actually did work through a temp agency for one of my jobs so I'll make sure I have that info correct on my form. It's good to hear you got your back pay relatively quickly once they processed it - gives me hope that this will actually get resolved. Thanks for the encouragement, I really needed to hear that!

I'm dealing with a very similar situation right now! EDD is missing wages from my part-time retail job and my weekly benefit amount is about $200 less than it should be. I've been trying to call for weeks with no luck getting through. Reading through these comments has been super helpful - I had no idea about the DE 1326E form! I was just sending regular messages through UI Online and mailing copies of my W2s. Sounds like I need to be way more specific with the wage investigation form. One question for those who've been through this - do you need to wait for any kind of response before following up, or can you call to check on the status right after submitting the form? I'm worried about being too pushy but also can't afford to wait months for this to get fixed. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it's really reassuring to know I'm not the only one dealing with this mess!

Hey Logan! I'd suggest giving them the full 10 business days that Keisha mentioned before following up - that seems to be their standard processing time for wage investigations. But definitely keep track of exactly when you submit the DE 1326E form so you know when that 10-day window ends. From what I've read here, being persistent is key, but timing it right probably helps too. You're definitely not being pushy by following up after their stated timeframe! Good luck getting this sorted out - it sounds like the specific form makes a huge difference compared to just sending W2s.

I'm going through the exact same nightmare right now! EDD missed wages from my freelance work that I did through a 1099 contractor position, and my weekly benefit is $300 lower than it should be. I've been stuck in phone hell for over a month trying to get someone to look at my case. Reading all these responses has been a lifesaver - I had no clue about the DE 1326E form! I've just been sending messages through UI Online and getting nowhere. Going to download that form today and submit it with all my 1099s and bank statements showing the payments. Has anyone dealt with missing 1099 contractor wages specifically? I'm wondering if there's anything different I need to include since it wasn't traditional W2 employment. The work was definitely in my base period and should count toward my benefit calculation. This whole system is so broken - how are people supposed to survive when they can't even calculate benefits correctly? Thank you all for sharing what actually works!

Hey Carmen! I dealt with missing 1099 wages in my case too. For contractor work, you'll definitely want to include copies of your 1099-NEC forms and maybe bank statements showing the payments like you mentioned. The key thing is making sure the dates fall within your base period quarters. Also, if you know the business's EIN (Employer Identification Number) from your 1099, include that on the DE 1326E form - it helps EDD match the wages in their system. The process should be the same as W2 wages once you submit the proper documentation. Don't give up - contractor wages absolutely should count toward your benefit calculation if they were in your base period!

I'm in the exact same boat and it's absolutely maddening! EDD is missing wages from my second part-time job and I'm getting $380 less per week than I should be. I've been calling every single day for 3 weeks and can never get through - just that stupid "high call volume" message every time. Reading through all these responses has been incredibly helpful though! I had no idea there was a specific DE 1326E wage investigation form. I've just been sending regular messages through UI Online and mailing copies of my paystubs with no response whatsoever. Clearly I need to be way more strategic about this. Going to download that form right now and submit it through UI Online with all my documentation from the missing employer. Really hoping this actually works because I'm falling further behind on my bills every week. The stress of trying to survive on partial benefits while also spending hours every day trying to reach EDD is honestly overwhelming. Thank you everyone for sharing what actually works - this thread has given me more useful information than 3 weeks of trying to navigate EDD's useless phone system!

Natalie, I totally feel your frustration! I'm actually in a really similar situation - been dealing with missing wages from my second job for weeks now and getting nowhere with the regular phone calls and UI Online messages. Based on everything I've read in this thread, it sounds like we've all been taking the wrong approach. The DE 1326E wage investigation form seems to be the key that actually triggers their system to review missing wages. I just downloaded it myself and I'm planning to submit it through UI Online tomorrow with copies of all my paystubs and W2s from the missing employer. The 10 business day timeline that people mentioned gives me hope that there's actually a structured process for this, rather than just hoping someone eventually sees our messages. And knowing that we might need to specifically ask for a Tier 2 specialist if we do get through by phone is really helpful. Hang in there - it sounds like once people get the right form submitted and follow the proper process, this actually does get resolved! We shouldn't have to be detective work just to get our correct benefits, but at least there's a path forward.
