EDD appeal approved - how long until direct deposit hits my account?
FINALLY some good news! After fighting with EDD for almost 3 months, I just got notification that my appeal was approved in my favor. Such a relief after all the stress and waiting. I submitted my direct deposit info back in July (around the 12th I think), but I'm not sure how long it typically takes for the money to actually hit my account now that the appeal is resolved. Does anyone know the timeline? I've got bills piling up and need to plan accordingly. Will they process all the back payments at once or in separate deposits? I'm trying not to get too excited until I actually see the money in my account!

Congrats on winning your appeal! In my experience, it takes about 3-5 business days for the funds to appear in your account after an appeal decision. Since you already set up direct deposit back in July, you should be good to go. EDD typically processes all your back payments at once, but the total might be split into multiple deposits if it's a large amount (basically each certification period gets its own deposit). Keep checking your UI Online account - payments will show as 'paid' there before they hit your bank account. Don't be alarmed if the status changes from pending to paid before the money appears.

•Thank you! That's really helpful. I'll keep watching my UI Online account. 3-5 days isn't bad at all considering how long the appeal process took! Fingers crossed it comes through quickly.

•Oh wow, 2 weeks? That's a lot longer than what the other person said. Did they give you any explanation for the delay?

I went through the EXACT same thing last year! Won my appeal after they initially disqualified me for "voluntary quit" even though I had proof I was laid off. The direct deposit timing is all over the place honestly. Mine took 7 business days to hit my account after the appeal decision was finalized. One thing to watch out for - if you have ANY penalty weeks from previous claims, they'll deduct those before paying you. I had 2 penalty weeks I didn't even know about and was shocked when my payment was less than expected. Check your UI Online homepage to see if you have any penalty weeks listed! Also, they sent me a weird notice AFTER the appeal was approved asking me to re-certify for some weeks. Make sure you respond to ANY new messages or certifications they ask for!

•Thank you for the heads up! I don't have any penalty weeks (at least that I know of) but I'll definitely keep an eye out for any requests to re-certify. The EDD system is so confusing sometimes!

After an appeal decision in your favor, EDD typically takes 7-14 days to process the payments, but I've seen it happen as quickly as 3 days or as long as 3 weeks. The timeline varies based on your specific case and current workload at EDD. A few important things to note: 1. Check your UI Online account daily - payments will show as 'paid' there before hitting your bank 2. You may need to certify for past weeks if you haven't already 3. If your award amount was modified during the appeal, there might be additional processing time 4. Direct deposit information takes 3 business days to verify in their system If it's been more than 2 weeks since the favorable decision and you still don't see 'paid' status in UI Online, you should contact EDD directly. I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an EDD representative quickly instead of wasting hours on hold. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Congratulations on winning your appeal! That's a big hurdle to overcome in the EDD process.

•Claimyr actually works! Used it when my account got frozen after ID verification and I needed to talk to a real person. Got through in like 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own.

•Thank you for such detailed information! I'll definitely look into Claimyr if I don't see movement in the next week or so. I didn't even think about needing to certify for past weeks - I'll double check that right now.

•Did you try contacting your state assembly person? They can sometimes help push things along with EDD when there are long delays. That's what I had to do when my payments got stuck in pending for months.

•no i didnt know about that!! how do i find who my assembly person is??

•Just Google "find my California state assembly member" and it'll show you based on your address. Their offices usually have staff specifically for helping with EDD issues. They can often get answers when regular people can't.

When I won my appeal in March, it took exactly 9 business days for my direct deposit to arrive. Make sure your bank account info is correct in the system! My friend had all her banking details correct EXCEPT she was off by one digit in the routing number and it caused a huge delay. You might want to verify all that info is still correct since you entered it back in July. Also, just a heads up - they might send you a bunch of confusing paperwork AFTER depositing the money. I got like 3 different letters telling me different things after I was already paid. EDD's left hand doesn't know what the right is doing sometimes lol.

•Good point about double-checking my bank info! I just logged in and verified everything is correct. And thanks for the warning about the paperwork - I'll try not to panic if I get conflicting letters after the payment.

•I haven't seen any certification link for backpay weeks. Should that appear in my UI Online account automatically, or do I need to look somewhere specific?

•It should appear in your UI Online account under the "Certify for Benefits" section. If you don't see weeks available to certify for, you may need to call EDD to have them add those weeks to your certification queue. This is actually really common after appeals - the system doesn't always automatically add the backdated weeks for certification.

I had a similar situation last month. Won my appeal but my money got stuck in the system. I waited two weeks and nothing happened, so I called them. Turns out they needed me to verify my identity AGAIN even though I'd already done it through ID.me. Such a headache. But after I called and sorted it out, the money was in my account within 48 hours. I wasted days trying to call the regular number without getting through. The trick is calling right when they open at 8am, but even then it's a mess. My sister told me about this service called Claimyr that got her through to an EDD agent without the endless waiting and busy signals. It worked for me too - check out their demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The website is claimyr.com. Way better than spending all day hitting redial!

•ID.me verification issues are THE WORST! I had to verify three separate times last year because their system kept "losing" my verification. Each time it added weeks to my payment timeline. So frustrating.

•That's my biggest fear - that there's some hidden step or verification they need that will delay everything. I might try calling them proactively just to make sure everything is in order rather than waiting and finding out there's an issue. If I can't get through on the regular line, I'll check out that Claimyr service. Thanks for the tip!
