EDD UI claim stuck pending after disability, phone interviews. What next?
I'm so frustrated with the unemployment system right now. I was on disability, got cleared to work, and had two phone interviews. The second interview went great - they said everything was in order and I'd start getting my unemployment payments. But guess what? Nothing. My online account still says "pending" and I'm not sure about my eligibility. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next?

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative or senator? They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with EDD issues. It's worth a shot!

I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google "[your area] state representative" and you should find their office contact info. Good luck!

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was flagging cleared claims as pending. Keep pushing and don't give up! It took me about 3 weeks of constant calling and emailing, but I finally got it sorted.

That's good to know. Did you do anything specific that finally worked?

Honestly, I think I just got lucky and finally reached someone who knew what they were doing. But I also filed a complaint with my state representative's office, which might have helped.

PROTIP: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments (like overpayments or appeals) and ask to be transferred. Sometimes it's easier to get a human that way.

Have you tried sending them an email? Sometimes that works better than calling. Here's a template you can use: Subject: Follow-Up on Pending Unemployment Claim Dear EDD Representative, I'm writing to follow up on my unemployment claim, which is still pending despite being cleared in a phone interview. Details: - Date Cleared for Work: [Your Date] - Phone Interview Dates: [Your Dates] - Work Release Letter Faxed On: [Your Date] During my second interview, I was told everything was in order and I'd start receiving payments. However, my online account still shows "pending" and indicates uncertainty about my eligibility. Could you please provide an update on my claim status? If you need any additional information from me, please let me know. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards, [Your Name]

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. It's worth it if you need to talk to someone ASAP.

Letβs remember that tools like Claimyr, though helpful, are not perfect solutions. They can be convenient, but not everyone can afford to pay for a service like this, especially when they are already in a financial bind. It's a good option for immediate assistance, but let's also push for systemic changes so everyone can access unemployment benefits efficiently without extra fees.

Friendly reminder to everyone: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Save screenshots, write down names and badge numbers of people you talk to, keep a log of all your calls and emails. It might seem paranoid, but trust me, it can save your butt if things go sideways.
