EDD SDI claim issue after childbirth - No payments, vague message. What to do?

I applied for disability in April after giving birth in March, but I haven't received any payments yet. Someone from EDD called on Friday and left a message saying there was an issue with my claim, but they didn't give any specifics. They just left a number to call back. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do next?

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes that gets faster results than online submissions.

Faxing sounds so old school, but sometimes you gotta do what works. Worth a shot!

Anyone else notice how the system always seems to 'have issues' when it's time to pay out? But never when they're taking our money 🤔

Exactly! It's infuriating. They need to get their priorities straight.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Applied for disability after surgery and it's been crickets for months. The EDD is a joke 🤡

It's really frustrating how much we're left in the dark about these things. It feels like EDD has no accountability!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

I actually tried Claimyr too, and while I was initially wary of the cost, it was worth it for me. However, I agree that it should be a last resort after trying other methods due to the price.

To address your issue with EDD and potential solutions: First, continue attempting to reach them through the phone number provided, as real-time communication can be crucial for resolving specific claim problems. You mentioned frustration with busy signals, so try calling at different times or using multiple lines if possible. Second, utilize your online account to check for messages and possibly send an inquiry about your status. Third, you might find it beneficial to contact your local representatives who can sometimes expedite issues with state agencies. Lastly, consider tools like Claimyr, which offers a paid service to connect with EDD representatives. While some users report success, it's important to weigh the cost and possible alternatives carefully. Ensuring all documents and information are thoroughly reviewed and submitted correctly can prevent further delays. Persistence and patience are key, as the system is overloaded. Good luck!

It's funny but sad because it feels oddly true. We need more transparency.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep calling the number they left. Be persistent. 2. Document everything. Write down who you talk to, when, and what they say. 3. Check your online account for any updates or messages. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them through your online account. 5. Consider contacting your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things along. 6. Make sure all your paperwork is in order and you've submitted everything they've asked for. Remember, the system is overwhelmed right now, so patience is key. But don't give up! You're entitled to these benefits.

Great advice. I would add that sometimes visiting an EDD office in person can also work if you're nearby and can spare the time.

Have you tried calling the number they left? Sometimes you gotta be persistent and keep calling until you get through. It sucks, but that's how the system works.
