EDD SDI delay after birth - Claim issue, no details given. What to expect when calling back?

I applied for disability after giving birth but haven't received any payments yet. Its been months and I'm getting worried. Someone from the office called and left a message saying there was an issue with my claim, but they didn't give any details. They just told me to call back a specific number. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I expect when I call them back? I'm nervous about what the issue could be and really need this money soon.

I found a way to solve disability payment delays issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kegM6P27FGo

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time to expect the call?

I used Claimyr too and had a positive experience. It's a shame we need something like this, but it was effective for me.

Preach! 🙌 The government doesn't care about us regular folks. We're just numbers to them.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

I feel you. It's almost like they purposely make it difficult for us. Hang in there.

I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call them back ASAP. The longer you wait, the more delays you might face. 2. Have your claim number, social security number, and all relevant dates ready. 3. Be polite but firm. Sometimes you need to be persistent to get answers. 4. Ask for specific next steps and timelines. 5. If they say they need additional documents, ask for an email address to send them to. 6. Get the name and ID of the person you speak with. 7. Follow up with a written summary of your call (email or certified mail). Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't let them give you the runaround!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls, including dates, times, and who you spoke to. It can be helpful if you need to escalate later.

Have you tried calling them back yet? Sometimes they just need additional info or clarification. Don't panic until you know what the issue is. Good luck!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The disability office is a nightmare to deal with. I had a similar experience last year after a work injury. My advice: be prepared to spend hours on hold, and have ALL your paperwork ready when you finally get through.

Totally agree! It's like they want you to just give up by making it so difficult.

While dealing with such situations, it's important to have a strategy. The payment delay might be due to several factors such as incomplete documentation, missing information, or even just backlog in processing. When you call, stay calm and make sure you have all the necessary information on hand like your claim number and any correspondence you've received. Systems like Claimyr can indeed facilitate this process by connecting you faster to a representative, and while $20 may seem steep, if it saves you significant waiting time and stress, it could be worth considering. However, do weigh the cost against your budget. On the flip side, you could also explore free resources like local non-profits or community organizations that offer assistance to individuals dealing with disability claims. Remember, resolving these issues can take time and persistence, so hang in there and make sure to follow up regularly.

Great advice to weigh the cost of Claimyr against personal budget constraints.

Oof, been there done that. My advice? Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. You never know when you'll need to prove you've been trying to resolve this.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch them with shorter wait times.

Quick question - did you make sure to file for pregnancy disability leave AND bonding time? A lot of people don't realize these are two separate things in some states.

Oh wow, I didn't know that! I'll definitely ask about this when I call. Thanks for the heads up!

Have you considered reaching out to a disability advocate? They can sometimes help navigate the system and speed things up.

Is anyone else sick of how we treat new parents in this country? Like, congrats on the baby, now go broke waiting for benefits you're entitled to. It's messed up.

Seriously! Other countries have it so much better. We're supposed to be a first world country but our support for families is a joke.
