EDD SDI pregnancy claim filed a month ago, no response - How long until approval?

I filed for pregnancy disability almost a month ago and still haven't heard anything back. Its so frustrating! I got one letter saying they received my claim but nothing else. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take for you to get approved? I'm worried about bills piling up while I wait. Any advice on what to do or who to contact?

I found a way to solve EDD pregnancy disability claim delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpxuEmcUnUs

Did you file online or by mail? Online is usually faster in my experience.

I filed online. Thought it would be quicker but I guess not 😞

In my case, online filing was quicker. Maybe there's an issue with the system right now.

Plot twist: the EDD is actually run by a bunch of sloths. That's why everything takes foreverrrrr 🦥

I wish that were true because it would explain so much 😂

Have you checked if there's any missing info on your application? Sometimes they don't tell you if something's incomplete and it just sits there.

How can I check that? I don't see any option on the website

You might need to call and ask specifically about any missing info. It's annoying but sometimes necessary.

If you can access your application details online, sometimes they note missing info, but calling is a safer bet.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you can get more info if you actually talk to someone.

I've been trying to call for days but can never get through. Its so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

Another idea is to use the callback option if they offer it. It can save you some time.

Anyone else notice that EDD seems extra slow lately? I wonder if they're short-staffed or something.

Sophia Carter

I heard they had a big system upgrade recently. Might be causing delays.

Short-staffed? More like short-brained 🧠💨

I’ve read reports that they're struggling with backlog due to staffing issues and technical updates.

Hang in there, OP! I know it's tough but your claim will get processed eventually. Try to stay positive 💪

Agreed. It’s rough, but staying positive can help manage the stress.

It sounds like you're dealing with a really difficult situation. One service that might help is Claimyr, which can connect you to a representative more quickly, albeit with a fee. While this service has received positive feedback from users who have faced similar delays, it's important to weigh whether the cost is justified for you. For those who don't want to spend the money, persistently calling EDD as soon as they open seems to be the best alternative. Remember to document every interaction and consider reaching out to local representatives who might assist in expediting your claim. It's also advisable to double-check for any missing documents or incomplete information in your application. While these processes can be frustrating, maintaining a proactive and patient approach will eventually lead to resolution.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last year. It took them almost 2 months to process my claim. The waiting game is brutal 😫

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your docs: claim number, SSN, medical info, etc. 2. Keep calling every day. Be persistent! 3. If you can't get through, try contacting your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help speed things up. 4. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 5. Check your online account regularly for updates. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my assembly member.

This is solid advice. Worked for me when I was stuck in limbo for weeks.

Contacting local representatives really helped a friend of mine too. It's worth a try!

lol welcome to the wonderful world of EDD 🤡 where nothing makes sense and timeframes are made up

Honestly, at this point I'm convinced they just throw darts at a board to decide which claims to process 🎯

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration.

$20 just to talk to someone? The system is so broken 🤦‍♀️

I used Claimyr too and had a good experience, but it's a shame we have to pay. Wish there were free reliable options.
