EDD SDI claim stuck processing for a month - how to speed up or get info?
So I filed for disability like a month ago and still haven't heard anything back. My doctor and work sent in all the paperwork two weeks ago, but the website still says its processing. Anyone else dealing with this? I'm getting worried cause bills are piling up and I need that money. Any advice on how to speed things up or at least find out whats going on?

I found a way to solve disability claim processing delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ3C0qpJQ_E

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

Yeah, it actually does work. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate. Got through in about an hour. Worth it for me.

Claimyr seems like a last resort option if you're really struggling to get through to someone. Just weigh the cost against your need for urgency.

Barely. Living off credit cards and help from family. It's rough.

Hang in there. Hopefully things will turn around soon. Maybe try contacting local agencies for support.

I work in HR and deal with this stuff all the time. Here's a pro tip: call the employer services line instead of the regular one. Sometimes you can get through faster and they can still help with individual claims. Just say you're calling on behalf of an employee.

Wow, that's a great tip! Is that allowed though?

It's a grey area, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Just be polite and they usually help.

As long as you're respectful and not misleading, it could be worth a try.

I feel ya. I was in the same boat last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Keep calling every day. It's annoying, but persistence pays off. 2. Have all your docs ready when you do get through. 3. Be polite but firm with the agent. 4. Ask specific questions like: - Have all my documents been received? - Is there anything missing? - What's causing the delay? 5. Get the name of who you talk to and any case numbers. 6. Follow up regularly. Hang in there! It's a slow process, but you'll get there.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try this. Did you have to wait long to get through on the phone?

It took a while, ngl. I usually tried early mornings or right before lunch. Seemed to work better.

Good tips! Also, if you're not getting anywhere, try asking to speak with a supervisor. Sometimes that can help.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you can get more info that way than just checking online.

Calling is a waste of time. I spent 3 hours on hold last week and got nowhere.

Have you checked if theres any local assistance programs that can help while you wait? Some cities have emergency funds for situations like this.

That's a good point. It's worth looking into community resources or charities that might offer short-term help.

The humor helps, but seriously, it's tough to wait when you need assistance promptly.

Hey OP, make sure you're checking your mail regularly too. Sometimes they send requests for additional info by snail mail and if you miss it, it can delay everything.

Hang in there, OP! I know it sucks, but it will get sorted eventually. In the meantime, maybe look into some gig work to tide you over?

It sounds like you're going through a tough time, and getting stuck in bureaucracy certainly doesn't help. One resource you might consider trying is Claimyr, which offers a service that connects users directly to live agents through a call-in tool. While it does charge a fee, many have found it effective for cutting through the long hold times. However, it's important to weigh if the cost is worth the time saved, as not everyone might find it to be a viable solution. It could also be beneficial to contact your local representative who might expedite your claim, and remember there are local resources and charities that may provide temporary financial assistance during this waiting period. Lastly, keeping a close eye on both your email and postal mail for any additional requests from the agency is crucial. Often, a missed request for extra information can cause prolonged delays. Stay persistent, and hopefully, your claim will be processed soon.

Have you tried sacrificing a goat to the EDD gods? Might work better than actually trying to use their system 😂
