EDD Medical Disability Claim Stuck on "Pending Processing" Since 8/1 - No Payment Yet. Help!

I filed my medical disability claim on August 1st and still haven't received any payment. The status just says "pending processing". Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to speed things up or what I should do next? I'm getting worried about bills piling up.

I found a way to solve delayed disability claim processing, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkoaqihkTWw

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Filed mine in July and still nothing. The EDD is such a mess rn 🤦‍♂️

July?! That's ridiculous. Have you tried calling them?

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your docs (claim confirmation, medical records, etc) 2. Call EDD first thing in the morning 3. Be polite but firm, ask for specifics on why it's delayed 4. Request a supervisor if the rep can't help 5. Follow up with an email summarizing the call Stay persistent! It took me 3 calls, but I finally got it sorted.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try this approach. Did you have to provide any additional info they didn't initially ask for?

Actually, yes! They needed an updated medical certification. Apparently the first one got "lost" in their system 🙄 Always worth asking if they need anything else from you.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

Totally get the skepticism, but yeah, it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take to get through?

About 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent picked up.

This is why we need to overhaul the entire system. It's a joke that people have to wait months for benefits they're entitled to. 😤

Preach! 🙌 The whole thing is held together with duct tape and prayers

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under EDD's a**

I hadn't thought of that! How do I find out who my rep is?

Just google "[your city] state representative". Most have forms on their websites for constituent services. Good luck!

plot twist: the edd is actually run by sloths 🦥 explains everything

Guys, I'm telling you, its all about persistence. I called 37 times in one day before I got through. Yeah, it sucked, but I got my claim processed that week.

Has anyone else noticed that the "pending processing" status seems to mean different things depending on who you talk to? One rep told me it meant they were waiting on my employer, another said they were reviewing my medical docs. Can't they get their story straight? 🙄
