EDD Money Network card HACKED - $2,200 stolen last night - anyone get reimbursed faster than 10 days?

I'm literally panicking right now. Woke up to notifications that someone made 3 withdrawals from my Money Network card overnight totaling $2,200! I NEVER use those ATMs and was home asleep when it happened. Called Money Network immediately and they froze my card, filed a fraud claim, and said it would take 'up to 10 business days' to investigate and reimburse me. That's my RENT and CAR PAYMENT money! Has anyone else had their EDD Money Network card compromised? Did you actually get your money back? Did it really take the full 10 days? I can't wait that long and have bills due next week. The rep suggested I contact EDD to report it too but we all know how impossible that is... Any advice would be so appreciated!

Yep, happened to me in March. Someone somehow cloned my card and drained $3,400 at gas stations in a different city while I was at work. Money Network took exactly 8 business days to refund everything. Not quite the full 10, but still a nightmare week. Make sure you file a police report too - Money Network didn't tell me to do that but the EDD agent I eventually reached said it helps speed things up. Good luck!

I honestly have NO IDEA how they got my info! I'm super careful - I only use the card at major retailers and my bank's ATM. I've read that skimmers can be installed on any ATM though. I'm never using that card again once this is resolved - switching to direct deposit immediately.

Sorry this happened to you. I work at a financial assistance center and see this more often than you'd think. Here's what you should do: 1. File a police report immediately (even though chances of catching them are slim, it creates an official record) 2. Document everything - take screenshots of all unauthorized transactions 3. Contact your landlord and other billers to explain the situation and request an extension 4. If you have any other accounts or emergency funds, prepare to use them temporarily 5. Contact EDD to report the fraud as well - they have a separate fraud department Money Network's 10-day timeframe is unfortunately standard for fraud investigations across most prepaid card providers. In my experience, they usually resolve cases in 5-8 business days, but prepare for the full 10 just in case.

Thank you for this detailed advice! I've taken screenshots of everything and will file a police report today. My landlord has agreed to wait until the 8th without a late fee, which helps a bit. The problem is getting through to EDD - I've called at least 20 times today and can't get past the automated system.

Have you tried using Claimyr to reach EDD? After my card was compromised last month, I couldn't get through for days. A friend recommended Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. Is that service legit? sounds like one of those scams that prey on desperate people. no offense but im skeptical of anything that claims to get u thru to EDD when their lines are always jammed

It's definitely legitimate. I was skeptical too, but it worked for me and several people in my unemployment support group. They don't ask for any sensitive information like your SSN or EDD password - they just help you bypass the phone tree to get to a human. With something time-sensitive like fraud, it's worth it to actually speak with someone at EDD.

THIS EXACT THING happened to me last year!!! Money Network is THE WORST!!! They told me 10 days too but it took TWENTY THREE DAYS to get my money back!!! I kept calling them every single day and they just kept saying "still under investigation". EDD was useless too, they said it's Money Network's responsibility not theirs. I ended up having to borrow money from family to pay rent. The whole system is BROKEN and NOBODY CARES about us claimants!!!!

I think your experience is unusual. I had fraud on my Money Network card in February, and they resolved it in 7 business days. Did you file a police report? That's required for their investigation. You should set up text or email alerts for all transactions through the Money Network app or website. That way, you'll be notified immediately of any activity. You can also check your balance and transaction history regularly. If you see transactions you don't recognize, contact Money Network immediately at the number on the back of your card.

UPDATE: Wanted to let everyone know Money Network actually came through faster than expected! They issued a provisional credit after 4 business days, and today (day 6) they confirmed the fraud investigation is complete and the money is permanently restored. I think what helped was: 1) Filing the police report immediately, 2) Following up daily but politely, 3) Specifically mentioning hardship and requesting provisional credit as someone suggested here, and 4) I finally reached EDD using the Claimyr service someone recommended, and they put notes on my account. Also, I've already set up direct deposit to my regular bank account for all future payments. Never using that Money Network card again! Thanks everyone for your help during this stressful time.
