EDD Disqualification After Certifying for October - How to Speed Up Resolution?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment benefits. I certified for October but got hit with a disqualification. I sent in my check stub to try and fix it, but now I'm stuck waiting. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to speed things up or what to say when I finally get through to someone?

Quick question - how long ago did you fax your check stub? Sometimes it takes them a while to process things.

I faxed it about a week ago. Should it take longer than that?

A week? Oh honey, you're just getting started. I waited 3 weeks before I saw any movement on my claim 😩

Three weeks might seem long, but if it drags on longer, definitely follow up.

Ugh, I feel you. The EDD is such a mess rn. I had a similar issue last month. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get things moving.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins of trying last week. Good luck!

If you keep trying during off-peak hours, you might have better luck. They seem to be less busy early in the week.

I can understand the frustration with the EDD process as it can be quite cumbersome. One way to potentially expedite things is by contacting your state senator's office. They often have a constituent services department that can assist with state agencies like the EDD. Additionally, it's crucial to keep meticulous records of all communications and documents, as having a detailed history can be beneficial if you need to escalate the issue further. If you're using a service like Claimyr, it's a convenient option, but remember it's not the only solution. It might be worth considering other alternatives or combining multiple strategies to increase your chances of success. Just stay persistent and keep pushing forward.

Protip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other EDD numbers. Sometimes you can get transferred to the right department that way.

That's smart. I didn't think about trying other numbers. Thanks for the tip!

Has anyone tried the new online portal? I heard they updated it recently. Maybe you can check the status of your disqualification there?

LOL good one. That portal is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine 🤣

I tried, but it just shows the disqualification. No other info 😕

I heard they were supposed to upgrade it. Guess the improvements haven't been implemented yet.

Here's what you need to do when you get through to an agent: 1. Stay calm and polite, even if you're frustrated. 2. Clearly explain that you certified but got disqualified for October. 3. Tell them you've already faxed your check stub to lift the disqualification. 4. Ask if they've received and processed it yet. 5. If not, request that they expedite the process. 6. Ask for any additional steps or documents needed to resolve this quickly. 7. Get a timeframe for when it should be resolved. 8. Write down the name of the person you spoke to and any case number they give you. Remember, persistence is key. Don't be afraid to call back if things aren't resolved in the timeframe they give you. Good luck!

When you do get through, be super nice to the rep. They deal with angry people all day. Being polite might help you get better service. Just my 2 cents.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help push things through faster.

Have you tried tweeting at the EDD? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

Careful with that. I heard they can flag your account if you make too much noise on social media. Might backfire.

Social media can be powerful, but use it wisely. Maybe DM them first before going public.

Anyone else feel like we need a support group for dealing with EDD stress? This stuff is seriously affecting my mental health.

Amen to that. Maybe we should start a Discord server or something?

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

I'd recommend checking reviews and maybe trying other methods first, just to be sure. You never know with these things.
