Need help: Missed week certification & correcting previous certs with NYDOL - what to expect?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment benefits. I need to certify for a week I missed and also correct some days from previous certifications. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any tips on how to handle it when I call the unemployment office? I'm trying to be proactive about it, but I'm not sure what to expect.

I found a way to solve missed unemployment certification issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvm7TkP4rt8

Ugh, been there done that. The system is such a mess! 🤦‍♂️ Make sure you have all your dates ready when you call. They'll probably ask you a million questions about why you missed certifying. Good luck getting through tho, I spent days trying to reach someone.

Yo, I found a way to skip the hold times! There's this service called Claimyr that calls for you and only connects when there's an actual person. Costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration. Check it out: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

$20? Sounds like a scam to me. Has anyone else tried this?

Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it worked for me. Way better than wasting a whole day on hold.

Listen up, here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your info: dates you missed, reasons why, and any documentation you have. 2. Be prepared to explain why you missed certifying. They might be understanding if it's a one-time thing. 3. For correcting previous certifications, have exact dates and what needs to be changed. They may ask for proof. 4. Be patient and polite. The person on the phone isn't responsible for the system's issues. 5. Take notes during the call, including the agent's name and any case numbers. 6. Follow up via email or their online system if they can't resolve everything in one call. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up if you don't get through the first time. Good luck!

Have you tried using their online portal? Sometimes you can make corrections there without calling.

I looked into that, but it seems like for missed weeks and corrections, they want you to call in. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I always have better luck getting through early in the morning.

This! Also, avoid Mondays if you can. Always the busiest day.

I had a similar issue last year. Took forever to resolve but keep at it. Document everything and don't be afraid to escalate if you're not getting anywhere with the first person you talk to.

Hey OP, just curious - how long ago did you miss certifying? There might be a time limit on how far back they'll let you go.

It was just a couple weeks ago. Life got hectic and it slipped my mind. Hoping they'll be understanding about it.

Oh you should be fine then. I've heard they're pretty lenient if it's within the last month or so.

Protip: If u cant get thru on the main line, try calling ur local career center. Sometimes they can help or at least get u to the right person faster

Same here actually. I think a lot depends on your specific situation and maybe even which state you're in.
