EDD Holding Up Benefits for Week 11/9 - Need Verification Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my unemployment benefits. I certified for the week of 11/9, but now they're telling me they need to verify some information to make sure I'm still eligible. Has anyone else dealt with this? What kind of info do they usually need? I'm worried about not getting paid and could really use some advice.

Ugh, I've been there. They're always finding new ways to make us jump through hoops. 🙄 In my experience, they might ask for proof of job search activities, any income you've earned, or updates on your employment status. Have you received any specific instructions or letters from them?

Thanks for the reply! No, I haven't gotten any specific instructions yet. That's why I'm so confused and worried. Should I just wait for them to contact me or should I try to reach out first?

In my opinion, it's always better to be proactive. Try calling them ASAP. The longer you wait, the more likely your payment might be delayed. Good luck!

Agreed! Don't wait around for them to contact you. EDD is notoriously slow with everything. Take matters into your own hands!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken. 😤

I get it, but when you're waiting on hundreds or thousands in benefits, $20 to actually get through can be worth it. It's not ideal, but it solved my problem.

This happened to me last month. They needed me to verify my identity again 🙄 Had to upload a bunch of documents through their online portal. Took about a week to process, but then everything was fine. Hang in there!

The EDD system is such a mess rn. I've been waiting 6 weeks for them to "verify" my eligibility. No one answers the phone, emails go nowhere. I'm about ready to give up. 😫

Don't give up! Have you tried contacting your local assembly member? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD.

Really? I didn't even know that was an option. I'll look into it, thanks!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your UI Online account for any new messages or requests for information. 2. If there's nothing there, call the EDD immediately. Keep calling until you get through. 3. While waiting, gather documents that might be relevant: pay stubs, layoff notice, ID documents, etc. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try contacting them through AskEDD on their website. 5. Document all your attempts to contact them. 6. If all else fails, reach out to your state representative or assembly member for help. Remember, the key is persistence. Don't let them ghost you. Good luck!

Have you checked if there's a flag on your account? Sometimes they put a stop payment alert if they suspect fraud or need more info. You can see this in your UI Online account.

This whole system is designed to make people give up. Stay strong and keep pushing! You're entitled to these benefits. Don't let the bureaucracy win! 💪
