EDD identity verification issues - what documents needed for CA unemployment claim?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with identity verification for my unemployment claim. Has anyone else dealt with this? I got a notice saying there are issues verifying my identity, but I'm not sure what exactly they need from me. Any advice on how to handle this or what documents I should have ready? I'm feeling pretty lost and could use some help figuring out what to do next.

I found a way to solve EDD identity verification issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9ZAP8zJkoE

Same here. It's frustrating but try to stay persistent. Eventually, you'll get through.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yep, 100% legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny.

$20 just to talk to someone? The system is so broken 😤

While it's frustrating to pay, sometimes paying a small fee to save time is worth it, especially if you have urgent needs.

I've been in the same boat. It took me 3 months to get my identity verified. Hang in there! 💪

3 months?! That's insane. How did you manage financially during that time?

It was rough, not gonna lie. Had to borrow money from family and max out my credit cards. But once it got sorted, they backpaid everything. Just keep pushing!

This is why the system is so messed up. People shouldn't have to go into debt waiting for benefits they're entitled to. We need to demand better from our government!

Hey OP, don't forget to check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important EDD emails end up there. Learned that the hard way 😬

Great reminder! Missed a crucial email once because of this.

anyone else feel like were playing a game of unemployment roulette? 🎰 never know if youre gonna hit the jackpot (aka actually talk to a human) or lose it all (aka get disconnected after 2 hours on hold) 😅

Haha, so true! It's exhausting but hang in there.

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you need it most? 🙄 It's like they're trying to make this as difficult as possible.

Pro tip: Try accessing the site late at night or early morning. Less traffic = better chance of getting through.

I also found switching browsers or clearing cache sometimes helps. Worth a try!

Just a heads up, I've heard they're extra strict with identity verification right now because of all the fraud cases. Make sure every single detail on your documents matches EXACTLY what's in their system.

This is crucial! Even a small mismatch can cause delays. Double-check everything.

Hang in there! Sometimes it helps to approach the situation one step at a time.

Been there, done that. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your important docs: ID, Social Security card, and anything else EDD might've asked for. 2. Be ready to explain any discrepancies they might find. 3. When you call, be clear about why you're calling and ask for specifics on what they need. 4. Take notes during the call! 5. Follow up ASAP with whatever they ask for. 6. Set reminders to check back if you don't hear from them. Good luck! Let me know if you need more help.

This is solid advice. I'd also add to keep digital copies of everything in case you need to resend anything.

Thanks for the advice! Do you think I should prepare a script for the call?

0 coins

-

Ellie Kim

Absolutely! Having a script can help you stay focused and make sure you don't forget anything important. Here's a quick outline: 1. Introduce yourself and state why you're calling 2. Explain the issue with your identity verification 3. Ask what specific documents they need 4. Confirm next steps and timeline Just fill in the details and you'll be good to go!

This is super helpful, thank you so much! I'll definitely use this as a guide for my call.

have you tried faxing your documents? sometimes that works better than calling

-

Luis Johnson

I didn't even think about faxing! Do you know if they have a specific fax number for identity verification issues?

Ella Cofer

Yeah, its 1-866-215-9159. Make sure to include your claim number on every page!
