EDD Disability claim stuck for 6+ weeks - no status update or funds. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with my disability claim. It's been over 6 weeks since I filed and there's still no update on the website. No status, no funds, nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. The system is so broken 🤦♂️ Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare, but sometimes it's the only way to get answers.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's like they don't want us to reach them 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

Good idea! I'll have to try that next time. Beats waiting for hours only to get disconnected 🙄

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How does it actually work? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically. They have a system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls you. No more mind-numbing hold music! 🎵🚫

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Send a written request for status update via certified mail. 3. Contact your local state representative. They can often help push things along. 4. If all else fails, file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner. Stay persistent! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start with the written request and go from there.

This is solid advice. I'd add: join Facebook groups for disability claimants in your state. They often have insider tips and can alert you to system issues.

6 weeks? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 4 months now. The whole system is a joke. 🤡

Barely. Living off credit cards and help from family. It's a nightmare.

I heard they're super backlogged because of covid still. Might be why it's taking so long. Hang in there!

Pro tip: if you can get through to someone, ask for a tier 2 specialist. They have more power to actually fix issues and push claims through.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try that if I can ever get someone on the phone.

have you tried checking your claim status online? sometimes the website has more info than what they tell you on the phone
