EDD Card Still Not Received After Filing Unemployment Claim - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment card. I filed my claim a while back but still haven't received the card. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to speed up the process or who to contact? I'm getting pretty frustrated here.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat a few months ago. Have you tried calling the EDD? Fair warning though, it's like trying to win the lottery getting through to them.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I managed to get through after a week of trying this way. Good luck!

Calling when they open didn't work for me. I swear they have like 2 people answering phones for the whole state 🙄

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery!

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's legit.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically they have a system that keeps dialing and navigating the phone tree until it detects a human voice. Then it calls you and connects you. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you checked your mail carefully? Sometimes the card comes in a really plain envelope that looks like junk mail. I almost threw mine away by accident!

The whole system is a joke. I've been waiting for my card for 2 months now. Every time I call, they tell me it's 'in process'. What does that even mean? 🤬

Preach! 🙌 The EDD is a total clown show rn

It's ridiculous. They need to hire more people or update their systems or SOMETHING. This is people's livelihoods we're talking about!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Double-check your address on file. Sometimes there are typos that cause delays. 2. If it's been more than 10 business days since your claim was approved, request a replacement card. 3. Contact your local assemblymember or state senator. They can sometimes expedite things. 4. Keep detailed records of all your calls and correspondence. 5. Be persistent but polite when you do get through to someone. Hang in there, OP. The system is overwhelmed right now, but you'll get your money eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my assemblymember, I hadn't thought of that.

This is great info. Mods should pin this comment!

idk if this helps but I saw on twitter that EDD is having major backlogs due to fraud prevention measures. Might explain the delay 🤷‍♂️

Anyone else think its crazy that in 2023 were still using physical cards for this? Why cant they just do direct deposit like a normal job smh

For real! Get with the times, EDD!

They do offer direct deposit tho? You just have to set it up once you get your account info from the card.
