Contact my EDD case - phone system nightmare for 2 weeks straight

I need to contact my EDD case worker about a discrepancy but this phone system is absolutely broken. Been trying for 2 weeks straight to get through. I follow the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern but keep getting 'too busy' message. Called 65 times yesterday alone. My work schedule only lets me call during lunch breaks but that seems to be the worst time. Anyone else having issues trying to contact their EDD case about specific claim problems?

Same boat here - trying to contact my EDD worker about pending payments. The busy signal is constant between 12-1pm, they're all at lunch then.

Wait, the ENTIRE call center takes lunch at the same time? That's insane!

0 coins

Yep, learned that the hard way after wasting 3 days calling only during my lunch hour.

0 coins

Don't call between noon and 1:30pm ever. Complete dead zone. Best times are Wednesday/Thursday afternoons after 2pm.

0 coins

Thanks for the tip! I'll adjust my calling schedule and try mid-week afternoons instead.

0 coins

Wednesday worked for me last month - got through on attempt #47 around 2:30pm.

After 3 weeks of this nonsense I finally used Claimyr to contact my EDD case. Got connected in 25 minutes instead of wasting entire days redialing.

0 coins

Is that one of those auto-dialer services? How much does it cost?

0 coins

Yeah, it's claimyr.com - costs money but honestly best $20 I ever spent. They call for you and forward when agent answers.

0 coins

I was skeptical about paying for calling help but after 100+ failed attempts I tried it. Worked perfectly.

Pro tip: dial the menu options BEFORE the prompts finish. Press 1-wait-1-1-*** as fast as possible to save 30 seconds per attempt.

0 coins

Never thought of that! Every second counts when you're redialing dozens of times.

0 coins

This trick plus calling right at 8am sharp is how I finally got through last week.

0 coins

The 833 and 800 numbers are the EXACT same line. Don't waste time switching between them like I did.

0 coins

Seriously? I've been alternating between both thinking it would help!

0 coins

Total waste of time. Same queue, same agents, same impossible busy signals.

0 coins

Set your alarm for 7:30am, have coffee ready, start dialing at 7:55am sharp. Only way to beat the morning rush.

0 coins

That's dedication! I might have to try the early bird approach since lunch calling isn't working.

0 coins

I do this exact routine. Got through 3 times this way in the past month.

0 coins

Monday mornings are still brutal even calling early. Wednesday/Thursday much better odds.

0 coins

Been tracking my call attempts in a spreadsheet. 200+ calls over 3 weeks, only got on hold twice and both calls dropped after 90 minutes.

0 coins

That's heartbreaking! All that time wasted because of their system issues.

0 coins

The dropped call rate is around 30-50% unfortunately. Known issue they haven't fixed.

0 coins

Exactly why I finally gave up manual calling and used an auto-dialer service instead.

PSA: There's no specialist line anymore post-pandemic. All those tricks about pressing different numbers are outdated.

0 coins

Thank you! I wasted so much time trying those fake 'secret menu' tricks from old forums.

0 coins

Stick to the basic 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern. Everything else is just misinformation now.

My friend recommended Claimyr after I complained about spending entire days calling. Check out their demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

I'm getting desperate enough to consider paying for help. How quickly do they usually get you connected?

0 coins

They quoted 5-40 minutes vs my 2+ hour manual attempts. Worth every penny to get my life back.

0 coins

Don't call after 4pm any day of the week. They seem to stop answering new calls even though they're 'open' until 5pm.

0 coins

Good to know! I was planning to try late afternoon calls after work.

0 coins

Friday afternoons are completely pointless. Even if you get through you won't resolve anything until Monday.

0 coins

I'm hitting my phone plan limit from all this redialing. 500+ minutes this month just trying to contact EDD about my case.

0 coins

Oh no! I hadn't even thought about the phone bill impact. This is getting expensive in multiple ways.

0 coins

Use WiFi calling if your phone supports it. Saves on cellular minutes.

0 coins

Good tip! Though at this point I'm ready to pay someone else to handle the calling entirely.

0 coins

Finally got through yesterday after 85 attempts! Took 1 hour 45 minutes on hold but the agent was super helpful with my case issue.

0 coins

Congrats! What time did you call and what day? I need to replicate your success.

0 coins

Thursday at 2:15pm. Kept the menu pattern fast and got lucky on attempt #85 that afternoon.

0 coins

Used to be totally against paying for calling services but after my 4th dropped call this month I tried Claimyr. Honestly saved my sanity.

0 coins

I'm seriously considering it now. How much time did it actually save you?

0 coins

They got me connected in 18 minutes vs my previous record of 4 hours of manual attempts. No contest.

0 coins

Same experience here - was skeptical about the cost but the time savings made it worth it immediately.

0 coins

Key insight: EDD hours are M-F 8am-5pm but they effectively shut down 12-1:30pm for lunch. Plan accordingly!

0 coins

This should be posted everywhere! Would have saved me hours of pointless calling during lunch.

0 coins

They really should announce their lunch break officially instead of making us figure it out through trial and error.

0 coins

Month 2 of trying to contact my EDD case worker. At this point the stress is worse than the actual issue I need to resolve.

0 coins

I feel you completely. This shouldn't be so difficult just to talk to someone about our own cases.

0 coins

Have you considered the auto-dialer route? Might be worth it for your peace of mind.

0 coins

Yeah, I'm ready to try anything at this point. Manual calling clearly isn't working.

0 coins

Reality check: Most people need 20-100 redial attempts just to get on hold, then 1.5-2+ hour waits, then 30-50% chance of dropped calls. System is broken.

0 coins

Those statistics are depressing but match my experience exactly. No wonder people are paying for calling services.

0 coins

Exactly why I switched to Claimyr after my third week of failed attempts. Sometimes you have to admit defeat and find another way.
