Been trying telephone number to EDD for 6 days straight - still no luck getting through
I've been dialing the main telephone number to EDD (800-300-5616) since Monday and I'm losing my mind. Started with maybe 15-20 attempts per day but now I'm up to 60+ calls daily. I keep getting that automated message saying they're too busy. I know the basic pattern is press 1, wait, then 1-1-***, but even when I get past the menu it just hangs up on me. My benefits got suspended and I desperately need to speak with someone. Has anyone actually gotten through this week? What telephone number to EDD is actually working right now?

The 800 number and 833 number are literally the same line, don't waste time switching between them. I called 200+ times last week before getting on hold.

•Wait seriously? I've been alternating between both numbers thinking one might be less busy!

•Yep, total waste of time. Same exact queue system.

I feel your pain. The telephone number to EDD situation is absolutely broken right now. Been trying for 3 weeks myself.

•Three weeks?! How are you even surviving without benefits that long?

•Credit cards and borrowing from family. It's not sustainable much longer.

After burning through 400+ manual calls last month, I finally tried Claimyr and got connected in 22 minutes. Yeah it costs money but honestly saved my sanity. Sometimes you just have to accept the telephone number to EDD isn't meant for humans to dial.

•Is Claimyr legit? I'm getting desperate enough to pay at this point.

•100% legit. They have thousands of reviews. Check out claimyr.com - they even have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

•I was skeptical too but tried it last week. Got through in 35 minutes vs the 8 hours I wasted calling manually the day before.

Pro tip: Don't even bother with the telephone number to EDD between 12pm-1:30pm. The ENTIRE call center goes to lunch and nobody answers. Learned this the hard way after 50 wasted calls during lunch hours.

TillyCombatwarrior
•Are you kidding me? They all take lunch at the same time??

•Dead serious. Complete radio silence from 12-1:30. They should post this somewhere but they don't.

•This explains so much! I always wondered why I got zero success calling around noon.

The key with any telephone number to EDD is pressing the menu options BEFORE the prompts finish. Can save you 30+ seconds per call which adds up over 100 attempts.

TillyCombatwarrior
•What do you mean press before they finish?
0 coins
Jungleboo Soletrain
•Like as soon as you hear 'Para español' start hitting 1-wait-1-1-***. Don't wait for each prompt to complete.

•This actually works! Shaved 45 seconds off each attempt when I tried it.

Monday mornings are absolutely the worst time to use any telephone number to EDD. Everyone calls first thing Monday so the system crashes harder than usual.

•When IS the best time then? I'm running out of options here.

•Wednesday-Thursday afternoons around 2-3pm seem to have the highest success rate in my experience.

I got through yesterday after 127 calls! Took from 8am to 4:30pm but finally reached a human. The telephone number to EDD does work, you just need industrial-level patience.

•127 calls in one day?! How did you even keep track?

•Kept a tally on paper. My thumb was numb from hitting redial so much.

•Did they actually solve your issue or did you have to call back again?

•Thankfully they fixed everything in one call. But I was on hold for 2 hours and 15 minutes first.

The telephone number to EDD drops about 40% of calls even when you get on hold. It's a known system issue they refuse to fix.

•This happened to me twice! Got on hold for over an hour then just disconnected.

Anna Xian
•It's infuriating. You invest all that time and energy just to get dropped.

Stop calling after 4pm any day - they basically stop taking new calls even though they're 'open' until 5pm. Another telephone number to EDD secret they don't advertise.

•How do you know all these inside tricks?

•Trial and error over months of calling. You start to notice patterns when you're desperate enough.

Update: Just tried Claimyr after reading about it here. Got a callback in 28 minutes with an actual EDD agent. Best $20 I ever spent considering I was about to lose my apartment.

TillyCombatwarrior
•Wait it only costs $20? I thought it would be way more expensive.
0 coins
Rajan Walker
•Yeah, way cheaper than I expected. And infinitely better than wasting entire days on the telephone number to EDD.

•Told you it was worth it! Sometimes you have to pay to skip the broken system.

For what it's worth, calling at exactly 7:55am (before they officially open) sometimes gets you in the queue faster when lines open at 8am sharp.

•I've been starting at 8:15 thinking that was early enough. Will try 7:55 tomorrow.

•Yeah, have your coffee ready and start dialing 5 minutes before they open. Sometimes works.

The specialist line people talk about doesn't exist anymore. That was a pandemic thing. Don't waste time looking for secret telephone number to EDD shortcuts - there aren't any.

•Good to know. I was wondering why I couldn't find any working specialist numbers online.

•So much misinformation out there about magic numbers that supposedly work better.

My phone plan only has 500 minutes and I'm burning through them calling the telephone number to EDD. Anyone know if WiFi calling works the same way?
0 coins
TillyCombatwarrior
•Oh wow I didn't even think about minute limits. I might be in the same boat.
0 coins
Marcelle Drum
•Yeah, check your usage. I had to upgrade my plan just to keep calling.

•This is exactly why services like Claimyr make sense. They use their minutes, not yours.

Friday afternoons are terrible for the telephone number to EDD. Even if you get through, you probably won't get your issue resolved before the weekend.
0 coins
TillyCombatwarrior
•Makes sense. Probably better to wait until Monday than waste Friday calling.
0 coins
Avery Davis
•Exactly. Save your energy for early in the week when they're more likely to actually help.

I kept a spreadsheet of my calling attempts. Best success rate was Wednesday at 2:30pm - got through 3 out of 15 times I tried that exact time slot.

TillyCombatwarrior
•You made a spreadsheet?! That's dedication.

•When you're unemployed you have time to analyze the telephone number to EDD patterns. Gotta treat it like a science experiment.

•Actually smart. Data doesn't lie about when they're actually answering calls.

The telephone number to EDD system is designed to discourage people from calling. It's not a bug, it's a feature from their perspective.
0 coins
TillyCombatwarrior
•That's so frustrating. We're the ones paying into the system!

•Preaching to the choir. They know most people will give up after a few dozen attempts.

Just got off a 3 hour call after 89 attempts today. Agent was actually helpful but the telephone number to EDD process is still completely broken.

TillyCombatwarrior
•3 hours on hold?! My back would give out sitting that long.

•Had to use speaker phone and pace around. But at least my issue is finally resolved.

Second Claimyr update: Used them again this week for a follow-up question. Got through in 15 minutes this time. Honestly can't imagine going back to manual dialing the telephone number to EDD.

TillyCombatwarrior
•Okay you've convinced me. Ordering a callback right now.

The telephone number to EDD works on a first-come-first-served basis, but there are only like 50 spots in the hold queue. Once it's full, everyone gets the busy message.
0 coins
TillyCombatwarrior
•Only 50 spots?! For the entire state of California?

Ev Luca
•That's my theory based on timing patterns. Explains why getting on hold is harder than staying on hold.

Final tip for the telephone number to EDD: If you hear hold music, DO NOT hang up even if it's been 2+ hours. That call is gold and you might not get another chance for days.
