Can't find working EDD Spanish phone number - tried everything
I've been searching everywhere for the EDD Spanish phone number but getting conflicting info online. Some sites say press 2 for Spanish when you call the main line, others mention a separate number entirely. My mom doesn't speak English well and needs to talk to someone about her claim status. Has anyone actually gotten through to a Spanish-speaking agent recently? The regular English line is already impossible to reach.

There's no separate Spanish number - you just press 2 after dialing 800-300-5616. But honestly the wait times are exactly the same nightmare as English.

•That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming. Still doesn't solve the getting through problem though.

•The Spanish option has the same menu system too - 2 for Spanish, wait, then 1-1-***. Same dead ends.

I helped my neighbor with this last month. Called 47 times over 3 days before getting through to Spanish support. They have bilingual agents but not many.

•47 times?! That's insane. My mom can't sit by the phone all day doing that.

•Yeah it was brutal. Started at 8am sharp each day and finally got through Wednesday around 2:30pm.

Honestly after burning through my phone plan minutes trying to reach Spanish support, I used Claimyr. They can request Spanish-speaking agents when they connect you. Saved my sanity and got my abuela connected in like 25 minutes.

•Never heard of that service. Does it actually work for Spanish speakers?

•Yeah, you just specify Spanish when you place the order on claimyr.com. They handle everything and call you back when they have a bilingual agent ready.

•That sounds too good to be true. How much does it cost?

The Spanish line nightmare is real. I'm fluent in both languages and even I struggle. The menu prompts are translated but the hold music is still 2+ hours of torture.

•At least you can understand if they give updates during the hold. My dad just sits there hoping.

Savanna Franklin
•True, though they rarely give meaningful updates anyway. Just the same 'high call volume' message every 20 minutes.

Pro tip: don't call during lunch 12-1:30pm. The Spanish agents take lunch same time as English ones. Learned this after wasting entire afternoons.

•Good to know! I was wondering if they staggered breaks differently.

•Wait, the ENTIRE call center takes lunch at the same time? That explains so much about my failed attempts.

•Yep, complete dead zone from noon to 1:30. Don't even bother calling then.

I've been calling for my parents for weeks. The Spanish support is just as overwhelmed as English. Yesterday I got through but the call dropped after 1 hour 45 minutes on hold.

•That's devastating! All that time wasted.

•I wanted to throw my phone across the room. Starting all over again today.

•The dropped calls are the worst part. Happens to like 40% of people who actually get on hold.

My strategy has been calling right at 7:55am before they officially open. Sometimes you can queue up early. Works maybe 1 in 20 tries for Spanish line.

•That early bird approach worked for me once. Had to set 3 alarms and have coffee ready to go.

•Exactly! It's like preparing for battle. Still took 38 attempts that week to get through.

For what it's worth, both 800-300-5616 and 833-978-0953 connect to the same system. Pressing 2 for Spanish works on either number.

•Didn't know about the second number. Will try both to see if one's less busy.

•They're literally the same phone system, so no difference in wait times unfortunately.

Anyone else notice Monday mornings are completely hopeless for Spanish support? I think everyone tries calling first thing after the weekend.

•Monday mornings are terrible for all EDD lines. Everyone with weekend anxiety starts calling at 8am.

•Yeah, I stick to Wednesday/Thursday afternoons now. Slightly better odds.

Just a heads up - there's no 'specialist' Spanish line anymore. All those old forum posts about special numbers are outdated since the pandemic changes.

•Thank you for saying this! I wasted so much time trying those fake 'insider' numbers.

•Yeah, it all goes through the main system now. Press 2 for Spanish and hope for the best.

I finally broke down and used that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier. Worked perfectly - they connected me to a Spanish agent in 18 minutes. My tía got her payment issue sorted same day.

•Really considering this at this point. How does the Spanish request work exactly?

•You just check a box for Spanish when ordering the callback. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 showing how it works.

•I was skeptical but honestly best $20 I ever spent. My elderly parents can't handle the calling marathon.

The menu pattern for Spanish is exactly the same: dial 2, wait about 70 seconds, then 1-1-***. Saves maybe 10 seconds per attempt.

Tyler Murphy
•Every second counts when you're redialing 50+ times. Thanks for the timing tip.

Evelyn Kelly
•Yeah, I time everything now. Shaved 2 minutes off each failed attempt cycle.

Quick question - do the Spanish agents have access to the same systems as English ones? Don't want to wait forever just to be transferred.
0 coins
Savanna Franklin
•Yes, they can handle everything the English agents can. Same training, same access.

Paloma Clark
•Perfect, that's reassuring. Was worried about getting stuck between departments.

After 3 weeks of failed attempts, I'm convinced the Spanish line has even fewer agents. Takes forever even when you do get through.

Raul Neal
•That matches my experience. Seems like there are way more Spanish speakers needing help than bilingual agents available.

Heather Tyson
•Exactly. The demand far exceeds their capacity. It's a systemic problem.

For those still manually calling - avoid Fridays after 3pm. Even if you get through, you won't get issues resolved before the weekend.

Tyler Murphy
•Good point. Better to wait until Monday than waste Friday afternoon.

Jenna Sloan
•Learned this the hard way. Got through at 4:30pm Friday and they couldn't process anything until the following week.

UPDATE: Finally used Claimyr after reading these comments. Got connected to a Spanish agent in 32 minutes and resolved my mom's claim hold. Should have done this weeks ago instead of the manual calling nightmare.

Tyler Murphy
•That's it, I'm convinced. Ordering a callback now. This manual calling is destroying my work schedule.

•Do it. I calculated I spent over 40 hours trying to call manually. This saved my sanity and got results fast.

•Same experience here. The automated service is a game changer for Spanish speakers.
