Need EDD phone number Spanish support - can't get through in English
I've been trying to call EDD for weeks but my English isn't perfect and I keep getting confused with the automated menu. Does anyone know the EDD phone number Spanish option? I press 2 for Spanish but then get lost in the menu system. My claim has been pending for a month and I really need to talk to someone who speaks Spanish. Has anyone successfully reached a Spanish-speaking agent recently?

Same number 800-300-5616, just press 2 for Spanish right away. The menu is the same pattern after that - wait about a minute then press 1, then 1 again, then *** three times. Don't give up, it takes many tries!

•Thank you! I was pressing 2 but didn't know about waiting the full minute. I'll try this pattern tomorrow morning.

•The Spanish agents are just as overloaded as English ones unfortunately. Still expect 50+ redial attempts just to get on hold.

I speak Spanish and have called many times. The automated voice in Spanish is clear but getting through is still nearly impossible. I've been calling for 3 weeks straight, 6-8 hours daily.

•6-8 hours daily? That's insane. Have you considered using an auto-dialer service? I heard about Claimyr that calls for you and gets you connected to Spanish speakers too.

•Never heard of that. Is it legit? I'm desperate at this point, my unemployment ran out last week.

•Yeah it's real, claimyr.com. They handle Spanish requests and call you back when they get an agent. Saved me literally days of calling.

The Spanish line uses the exact same phone system as English, so all the same problems apply. Lunch break 12-1:30pm, best times are Wednesday/Thursday afternoons, avoid Monday mornings completely.

•This is helpful info. Do the Spanish agents also go to lunch at the same time as English agents?

•Yes, the whole call center shuts down 12-1:30. No point calling during lunch regardless of language preference.

Mi experiencia: llamé 73 veces ayer y nada. Today I got through after 2 hours on hold but then the call dropped right when someone answered. I wanted to throw my phone!

•The dropped calls are the worst part. EDD's phone system drops about 30-40% of calls even after you wait on hold. It's a known technical problem they won't fix.

•So frustrating! I can't keep missing work to sit on hold all day just to get disconnected.

For Spanish speakers: Press 2 immediately when you hear 'Press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish.' Don't wait for the full prompt. Then the pattern is: wait 70 seconds, press 1, press 1, press *, press *, press *. Repeat until you get through or they say too busy.

•70 seconds exactly? I've been waiting random amounts of time. No wonder I keep getting menu errors.

•Yeah timing matters. I timed it with a stopwatch after 50+ failed attempts. 70 seconds is the sweet spot for Spanish menu.

•This is gold, thank you! Going to try this exact timing tomorrow at 8am sharp.

I finally got through last week to a Spanish agent after 2 months of trying. Called Wednesday at 2:15pm, took 89 redial attempts but got on hold. Waited 1 hour 45 minutes but actually talked to someone! She was very helpful and resolved my issue in 20 minutes.

•89 attempts?! How do you even keep track? My phone bill is going to be crazy this month from all the calling.

•I used tally marks on paper. Looked crazy but helped me not give up. Wednesday afternoons seem to be the magic time.

Don't waste time with the 833 number, it's the exact same line as 800-300-5616. Some people think it's a 'secret' Spanish line but that's not true. Both numbers go to the same overwhelmed call center.

•Wait, I thought 833 was faster? I've been alternating between both numbers for weeks!

•Nope, total myth. You're just wasting extra time switching numbers. Stick to one and keep redialing.

Has anyone tried calling super early, like 7:50am before they officially open? I heard you can sometimes get in the queue early.

•I call every day at 7:55am with coffee ready. Sometimes you can slip through right at 8am when the system switches on. Worth trying.

•Early morning definitely helps but you still need luck. I got through at 8:02am once but usually it's still busy signals all morning.

After 6 weeks of manual calling in Spanish, I broke down and paid for Claimyr. Got a callback in 23 minutes with a bilingual agent who spoke perfect Spanish. Honestly the best $20 I ever spent considering I was losing wages sitting on hold all day.

•Did you specifically request Spanish or do they automatically match you? My mom needs help but only speaks Spanish.

•When you set up the callback, there's an option to request Spanish speaking agent. They handle it automatically. Check out their demo video https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

•I'm going to try this too. Missing another day of work tomorrow to call EDD isn't worth it anymore.

The Spanish automated prompts are actually clearer than English ones, but the hold music is the same terrible quality that cuts in and out. At least you know you're still connected when the music keeps playing.

•That hold music haunts my dreams now. I've been on hold so many hours I could probably hum the whole loop from memory.

•Pro tip: Use speaker phone and do other things while on hold. Don't waste mental energy listening to that awful music for 2 hours.

Important: Don't call after 4pm any day if you want Spanish support. The call volume gets so heavy in the afternoon that even if you get through, you'll likely get disconnected before reaching an agent.

•Learned this the hard way. Got on hold at 4:30pm, waited until 6:15pm and then the whole system just shut down. Lost 2 hours for nothing.

•Same thing happened to me on a Friday at 4:45. Now I only call Tuesday-Thursday between 1:30-3:30pm for best chance.

For those still trying manually: bring snacks, water, and charge your phone fully. I've spent entire days redialing and you need to be prepared for the marathon. It's honestly exhausting.

•This shouldn't be necessary in 2024. The fact that we have to treat calling a government office like survival camping is ridiculous.

•Agree completely. That's why services like Claimyr exist - to handle this broken system so we don't have to waste our entire lives on hold.

Final success tip for Spanish speakers: When you finally get an agent, have your SSN, claim details, and specific questions written down in advance. The call could drop at any moment so make every second count.

•Yes! Also ask for the agent's direct number or extension in case you get disconnected. Some will give it, some won't, but always worth asking.

•Great advice. I also screenshot everything important during the call in case I need to reference it later.
