Anyone else having trouble with the EDD phone number 800-300-5616? Can't reach a single agent
I've been trying the main EDD phone number 800-300-5616 for over a week now and it's absolutely impossible to get through. I start calling at 8am sharp every morning, follow the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern, but I just keep getting that awful 'we're too busy' message. Yesterday I tried 73 times before giving up. I know people say the 833 number is different but isn't it the same line? My claim has been pending for 3 weeks and I really need to talk to someone about my certification issues.

The 833 and 800 numbers are exactly the same line, don't let anyone tell you different. I wasted a whole day switching between them thinking one was better.

•Thank you! I was wondering about that. So frustrating that people spread that myth around.

•Yep, confirmed. Both numbers route to the same call center. Save yourself the time.

73 attempts is rough but honestly not that unusual. Last month I hit 94 calls in one day before getting through. The system is just completely overwhelmed.

•94 calls! How do you even have time for anything else? This is insane.

•I've been tracking my attempts and my record is 127 calls in a single day. Still didn't get through that day.

I was in the same boat as you until I found Claimyr. It's a service that calls for you and forwards the call when they get an agent. Saved me literally days of redialing.

•Is that legit? I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point.

•Yeah, check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10. I was skeptical too but it worked in 23 minutes for me.

•Second this. Used Claimyr last week and got connected in under 40 minutes. Best $20 I ever spent.

Pro tip: Don't call between noon and 1:30pm. The entire call center takes lunch and nobody answers during that window. Learned this the hard way.

Zara Rashid
•Wait, the WHOLE call center takes lunch at the same time? That's ridiculous!

•Yep, it's a complete dead zone. They should post this somewhere but they don't. Wasted so many attempts during lunch.

•This explains why I never get through when I try calling on my lunch break. Thanks for sharing!

Are you pressing the menu options before the prompts finish? You can save about 20-30 seconds per call that way. When you add up 70+ attempts, that's significant time savings.

•I try to but sometimes I mess up the timing. Do you have the exact pattern memorized?

•After calling 800-300-5616, I dial 1 immediately, wait exactly 1 minute 10 seconds, then 1-1-***. Don't wait for the full prompts.

Monday mornings are the absolute worst time to call. Everyone who couldn't get through Friday is calling first thing Monday. Try Wednesday or Thursday afternoons instead.

Zara Rashid
•Good point. I always try Monday thinking I'll beat the rush but maybe that's backwards logic.

•Wednesday between 2-4pm has been my sweet spot. Still takes many attempts but better odds than Monday.

•Exactly! And avoid Friday afternoons too - even if you get through, they can't resolve much before the weekend.

I finally got through last week after 2.5 hours on hold, but then the call dropped right when the agent picked up. I literally screamed. This system is broken.

Zara Rashid
•That's my worst nightmare. How do you even recover from that emotionally?

Jamal Wilson
•I didn't. I took the rest of the day off and seriously considered paying for one of those callback services.

•The call drop rate is supposedly 30-50%. It's a known issue they refuse to fix. Absolutely maddening.

Stop torturing yourself with manual calling. I used Claimyr three times now and it works every single time. Usually connects me within 30 minutes max.

Zara Rashid
•Three times? Do they guarantee it works or is there still a chance of failure?
0 coins
Liam Fitzgerald
•They don't guarantee a specific time but I've never waited more than 45 minutes. Way better than spending entire days redialing manually.

•I was hesitant about paying but honestly, my time is worth more than the fee. Got through in 18 minutes yesterday.

Has anyone tried calling right at 7:55am before they officially open? I heard some people get in the queue early that way.
0 coins
Zara Rashid
•I've tried that but usually just get a message saying they're closed. Maybe I need to try earlier?

Giovanni Mancini
•I start dialing at 7:50am and keep hitting redial until 8:00am. Sometimes you can slip into the queue just as they flip the switch.

•Yeah, it's hit or miss but when it works you avoid the initial rush of 8am callers.

Whatever you do, don't fall for the 'specialist line' myth. There's no secret number that bypasses the main queue. That ended during the pandemic.

Zara Rashid
•Thank you! I was about to ask if anyone had a specialist number. Good to know it's not real.

•So many people still ask about this. The specialist lines were discontinued in 2020. Everyone goes through the same system now.

I've been keeping a spreadsheet of my calling attempts. Best success rate is Wednesday 2-3pm with 1 in 47 attempts getting through to hold. Worst is Monday 8-9am with 0 in 156 attempts.

Zara Rashid
•You tracked 156 failed attempts in one hour? That's dedication to data collection!

Sofia Morales
•I'm a bit obsessive about tracking patterns. It helps me feel like I have some control over this chaos.

•This is actually really helpful data. Wednesday afternoons seem to be the consensus best time.

My phone plan only has 500 minutes per month and I've already used 400 just trying to reach EDD. This is costing me money I don't have.
0 coins
Zara Rashid
•That's awful. Can you use WiFi calling to avoid using your minutes?
0 coins
Dmitry Ivanov
•I try but the connection isn't always reliable. Missed getting through twice because WiFi dropped mid-call.

•Check if your library has free phone access. Some have calling stations for exactly this type of situation.

After 3 weeks of manual calling with zero success, I broke down and used Claimyr. Got connected in 31 minutes and resolved my issue completely. Should have done it weeks ago.

Zara Rashid
•31 minutes vs 3 weeks of trying... that really puts it in perspective. Maybe I need to stop being stubborn about paying.
0 coins
Miguel Silva
•Exactly. I calculated I spent over 40 hours manually calling. The service fee was way less than my hourly wage for those wasted hours.

Don't call after 4pm any weekday. They stop taking new calls even though they're officially open until 5pm. Learned this from an agent who told me off the record.
0 coins
Zara Rashid
•So the real hours are more like 8am-4pm? They should be transparent about this stuff.
0 coins
Zainab Ismail
•Seems like it. The agent said they have to finish existing calls by 5pm so they can't take new ones late in the day.

•This makes sense. I never had luck calling after 3:30pm but thought it was just bad timing.

For anyone still manually calling - make sure you have snacks, water, and a phone charger ready. This process can take literally all day and you don't want to stop when you're finally making progress.

Zara Rashid
•Good practical advice. I ran out of battery twice and had to start over. So frustrating.

QuantumQuester
•Yeah, treat it like a survival situation. I also recommend having a backup activity since most of calling is just hitting redial repeatedly.

Has anyone calculated how much their time is worth vs just paying for a callback service? I'm curious about the break-even point.
0 coins
Zara Rashid
•That's a good way to think about it. If I make $15/hour and spend 10 hours calling, that's $150 of my time vs $20 for the service.

Keisha Williams
•Plus the stress and frustration factor. Some things are worth paying for just for peace of mind.

Yara Nassar
•Exactly. The mental health cost of this calling process is real. Sometimes you just need to buy back your sanity.
