I heard a rumor that they're updating the system soon to make it easier to resolve pending claims. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?
LOL sure, and pigs will fly. EDD has been promising improvements for years and nothing ever changes.
I actually read an article about this! They're supposed to be implementing some new AI system to help process claims faster. But who knows when it'll actually happen 🤷♀️
guys i think i figured it out. if you press 2, then 4, then wait 30 seconds and press 1, you can sometimes get through to a real person. its not guaranteed but ive had some luck with it

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through faster.
I hadn't even thought of that. How do I find out who my assembly member is?
Just google 'find my california assembly member' and enter your address. They usually have a form on their website for EDD issues.
Unpopular opinion: maybe try going to the EDD office in person? I know it's a pain, but sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with these bureaucrats.

I tried this last month. Waited 3 hours just to be told to go home and call the number. Total waste of time.

Quick question for anyone who's been through this recently - are they still requiring the extra identity verification steps? I heard they added some new requirements and I'm trying to prepare.
Yeah, they are. Make sure you have a clear photo of your ID and a recent utility bill or bank statement. They're pretty strict about it.
