i missed something are they getting rid of the money network cards completely?? i like the card honestly its just easier for me dont want to switch if i dont have to
UPDATE ON MY PENDING PAYMENT: Finally got through to EDD! The rep said there's a verification hold that happens automatically when you switch payment methods. She lifted it manually and my payment should deposit tomorrow. Just a heads up for anyone making the switch - might be worth calling BEFORE you change payment methods to avoid the delay I experienced.
Thanks so much for the update! That's really good to know. Did they say if this happens to everyone or just randomly?
I feel your pain waiting for that first payment! When I lost my restaurant job last year I was checking my UI Online account like 5 times a day hoping to see it change from pending to paid. What finally worked for me was calling the 833 number instead of the main 800 number. Sometimes the different phone lines have different wait times. Also try calling at exactly 8:01am when they first open. btw i'm curious did you get the letter with your award amount in the mail or just online? i'm trying to help my cousin who just filed and he's wondering how he'll get notified.
Update us when your status changes! This kind of information is really helpful for other members going through similar situations. The more data points we have about current processing times, the better we can help each other navigate the system.
EDD typically verifies your income through your employer's quarterly tax reports, which means they may not immediately verify each certification but can detect discrepancies later. I recommend keeping digital copies of all paystubs and a simple spreadsheet tracking dates worked, hours, and gross pay. If EDD notices discrepancies, they'll send you a notice requesting additional information. This happens often with substitute teaching because of the irregular schedule. If you get one of these notices, respond promptly with your documentation. By the way, since you'll likely need to communicate with EDD at some point, save yourself the frustration of endless busy signals. I mentioned Claimyr earlier (claimyr.com) - it's been a lifesaver for many substitute teachers I know who needed to sort out complex certification issues. Their automated system keeps dialing until it gets through, then calls you back when an EDD rep is on the line.
lol everyone overthinks this stuff... just answer the questions honestly when u certify and ur fine. i worked as a sub for months while on ui and never had any problems. the edd system is designed for people who work part time or have irregular work. as long as ur not trying to cheat the system ur good.
Just to add one more important detail - in the interview, they'll ask about your ability and availability to work. Make sure you clearly state that you are: 1. Physically able to work now 2. Available for full-time work 3. Actively looking for work 4. No longer needed as a caregiver Even if the base period wages issue is resolved somehow, they might still deny benefits if they think you have restrictions on your ability to work. They specifically look for reasons to disqualify people, so be very clear about your current availability.

And while you're waiting for them to fix it MAKE SURE you keep detailed records of EVERY conversation you have with EDD! I didn't do this and ended up having to restart my entire wage investigation because the rep I spoke with didn't properly note my account. Write down the date, time, rep name/ID number, and what they told you EVERY SINGLE TIME. Their system is designed to lose your information!!

•This is excellent advice. I'd also recommend following up any phone conversations with an email summary through your UI Online account messaging center. This creates a written record in their system that can be referenced if there are any disputes later. Always include the date and time of your call, the name of the representative you spoke with, and a brief summary of what was discussed and what actions were promised.

•That's unfortunate, but I understand the frustration. For anyone reading this thread: don't give up on your correct benefit amount! The difference between a properly calculated benefit and an incorrect one could be thousands of dollars over your claim period. It's worth the effort even if it seems overwhelming.
