Missed ID verification but had EDD interview - will this affect my claim approval?

I'm totally freaking out right now. I applied for unemployment benefits about 3 weeks ago and just realized I completely forgot to do the ID.me verification that was requested. But here's the weird thing - I had my eligibility phone interview on March 11th with an EDD representative, and she never mentioned anything about missing identity verification during our 20-minute call. She just asked questions about my previous employment and why I left. The interview seemed to go well, but now I'm worried this forgotten verification will mess everything up. My claim is still showing as 'pending' in the system. Has anyone had this happen? Will they automatically deny me or will they just send another verification request? Should I call EDD and tell them I missed it or just wait to see what happens?

Three days is still within normal processing time. ID.me sends the verification to EDD, but EDD still needs to process it on their end. If nothing changes after 7-10 business days, that's when you should follow up. In the meantime, make sure you continue to certify for benefits every two weeks even if your claim is still pending. Once your claim is approved, you'll receive all eligible back payments for the weeks you've certified.

That's a relief! I'll keep certifying and give them the full 10 business days before I start worrying again. Thanks for all the help everyone!

I'm in almost the exact same situation! Filed 3 weeks ago, missed the ID.me verification initially, and had my phone interview on March 15th. The rep didn't mention the missing verification either during our call. I completed the ID.me verification yesterday after reading through all these comments and got the confirmation email. My claim is still pending too. It's such a relief to know I'm not the only one who missed this step initially. Hopefully we'll both see our claims move forward soon! Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and advice here.

EDD payment schedule - are payments always biweekly? Confused new claimant

I finally got my first unemployment payment after waiting for what felt like forever! So relieved to see money in my account. But now I'm confused about when to expect future payments. Do EDD payments always come every 2 weeks? I certified on Sunday and got paid Wednesday. Should I expect my next payment in exactly 14 days? Or is there some other schedule I don't know about? This is my first time on unemployment and I'm trying to budget carefully. Thanks for any help!

my sister gets disability not unemployment and her payments come every 2 weeks too but on different days than mine. i think all EDD stuff is biweekly but the actual days depend on your specific program and when u first applied

That's correct. SDI (State Disability Insurance) and PFL (Paid Family Leave) are also administered by EDD but operate on different payment systems than Unemployment Insurance. They all use biweekly payment schedules, but the specific dates vary by program. For UI specifically, your certification dates are determined when you first file your claim and remain consistent throughout your benefit year.

Congratulations on getting your first payment! That waiting period is brutal. Just wanted to add that you can also check your payment history in UI Online under "History" to see the exact pattern of your payments once you have a few cycles under your belt. This helps you track if there are any delays or issues. Also, if you ever have a problem with certification or payments get stuck, don't panic - sometimes the system has glitches but they usually resolve within a few days. Keep all your job search records organized too since you might get randomly selected for eligibility review later on. Good luck with everything!

EDD says 'benefits payable to you at this time' exhausted - any options left?

So I just got hit with that dreaded message when I tried to certify: "You have received all benefits payable to you at this time. You cannot file another California Unemployment Insurance claim until your current benefit year ends." I still have 4 months before my benefit year ends (May 2025) and I'm freaking out because I've been on interviews but nothing's coming through yet. Construction work is just dead right now in my area. I thought I had like $3,200 left in my claim balance last time I checked?? Did I miscalculate something? I've been on unemployment for about 8 months total but with some periods of temp work in between. Has anyone dealt with this before? Are there ANY options or extensions available in 2025? Or am I just completely screwed until my benefit year ends?

just wanted to add that I was in your situation last year and it SUCKS but it's not forever. I picked up gig work delivering food for a couple months until my benefit year ended. Then I filed a new claim and got approved again because I had enough wages from before my first claim. Hang in there!

I went through this exact same situation last year and it's absolutely devastating. Here's what I learned that might help: First, you're right to be confused about the balance - the EDD portal can be misleading. What you probably saw was your original maximum benefit amount, not what was remaining. Once you hit your max (usually 26 times your weekly benefit amount), you're done regardless of time left. Some immediate steps that helped me: 1. Apply for CalFresh TODAY - it can take 2-3 weeks to process and you need food assistance now 2. Contact 211 or visit 211.org for emergency rental assistance in your area 3. Check if your local food banks have construction worker programs - some do 4. Look into day labor agencies for immediate cash work while you job hunt For construction specifically, try reaching out to union halls even if you're not a member - they sometimes know about non-union jobs too. Also check with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contractors who might need general labor. The hardest part is that you CAN'T file a new claim until your benefit year ends in May, and even then you need sufficient wages earned since your last claim to qualify. But you WILL get through this - focus on survival mode for the next few months and keep applying everywhere. Construction always picks up in spring.

EDD 'Qualification' status with 'Auto Payment' reason but money not showing up in my account

I'm feeling super confused right now. I checked my UI Online account this morning and under Claim Activity it shows 'Qualification' status and 'Auto Payment' under reason. I was expecting the money to hit my account today (it usually deposits around 9-10am), but it's now almost 6pm and nothing's there. This is my 3rd certification period and the first two payments came through without any issues. Does 'Qualification' mean something bad? I thought it was a good thing but now I'm worried. Has anyone else had this status but still got paid? How long should I wait before panicking? I really need this payment to cover my rent due in 3 days.

UPDATE: The payment just hit my account this morning! Looks like it was just delayed by a day. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

Great to hear! Glad it worked out for you. The EDD system can be nerve-wracking when you're depending on that money.

Lucky you! Mine usually takes 3-4 days even with 'Auto Payment'. The EDD system is SO inconsistent.

So glad to see your update that the payment came through! This is exactly why I always tell people not to panic too quickly with EDD delays. The system is slow and clunky, but when it shows 'Qualification' and 'Auto Payment' like yours did, the money is almost always on its way. The fact that you had part-time earnings probably did add to the processing time since they have to calculate the partial payment amount. Your story will definitely help other people who find themselves in the same scary situation!

EDD wage requirements for reapplying after prior UI claim - confused about earnings threshold

I exhausted my unemployment benefits about 5 months ago and have been working part-time since then. My hours just got cut again and I'm wondering if I can reapply for a new UI claim. I've heard you need to earn a certain amount of money between claims, but I can't find a straight answer about how much. I've made around $4,800 since my last claim ended. Is that enough to qualify for a new claim, or do I need to wait longer and earn more? Has anyone gone through this process recently? The EDD website is confusing me.

To summarize what we've discussed for your situation: 1. You need at least $1,300 in your highest quarter OR $900 in your highest quarter plus 1.25x that amount total 2. Your base period would be January 2024-December 2024 if filing now 3. Since you were on unemployment during part of that period, you might need to use the Alternate Base Period 4. The ABP would include your recent $4,800 in earnings 5. You should apply and let EDD determine if you qualify 6. Consider using a calling service if you need to speak with an EDD representative for clarification Finally, once you apply, make sure to certify for benefits every two weeks even while your claim is pending determination.

Thank you so much for this clear summary! I'm going to apply online tonight and see what happens. I'll update this thread once I hear back from EDD about whether I qualified or not.

Just wanted to add - if you do get approved for a new claim, there's a one-week waiting period before you can receive benefits, even if you're eligible. This is different from continuing an existing claim. Also, make sure to keep detailed records of your job search activities from day one, as EDD may audit your work search requirements at any time. I learned this the hard way when they asked for 6 months of job search documentation retroactively. Good luck with your application!
