Has anyone tried the 833 number instead? I heard it's the same line but sometimes routes differently.
Update: Finally got through using the early morning strategy and was able to request Tagalog interpretation. Took about 15 minutes to get the interpreter on a three-way call but then we resolved my mom's claim in 30 minutes. Don't give up!
Glad it worked out! Though honestly 25 attempts is still a lot - that's why I just used the calling service.
I might try the manual way first but if that doesn't work I'll look into Claimyr as backup.
Unfortunately, mis-calendaring the date wouldn't qualify as an "Administrative Error" since that term typically refers to mistakes made by the EDD or Appeals Board themselves, not scheduling errors by claimants. However, you still have options! California EDD allows appeals to be reopened under "good cause" provisions. While a personal scheduling error isn't automatically considered good cause, you can still request to have your appeal reopened by: 1. Acting quickly - you typically have 20 days from the decision date to request reopening 2. Filing a written request to reopen your appeal (form DE 6317) 3. Clearly explaining your situation and why you missed the hearing 4. Being honest about the scheduling error but emphasizing any factors that contributed to the confusion I recommend: - Contacting the Appeals Board immediately at 1-800-300-5616 - Following up with a written request explaining your situation - Including any documentation that might support your case While there's no guarantee they'll reopen based on a calendaring error alone, the sooner you address this, the better your chances. The Appeals Board does have some discretion in these matters, especially if you're prompt in your follow-up.
Hey OP, quick question - when exactly did you submit the questionnaire? There might be a grace period depending on when it was due.
I think it was about a week after the due date. I completely forgot about it with everything else going on. 😓
have u tried turning it off and on again? lol jk but srsly the UI system is so broken its not even funny anymore

Just want to echo what others said about Claimyr - it really does work. I was skeptical about paying for something I should be able to do myself, but after wasting 2 weeks calling manually, it was worth it. Got connected in about 35 minutes.

•I think I paid around $20. No guarantee but their success rate is way higher than manual calling. Check out claimyr.com if you want to see their demo video.

•I saw that demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 - really shows how their system works. Pretty impressive tech.

Bottom line: those are the right phone numbers (800-300-5616 or 833-978-7753) but calling manually is brutal. Budget several hours or full days, avoid lunch time and Monday mornings, and be prepared for dropped calls. Or just use an auto-dialer service and save yourself the headache.

•Good luck! Just remember it's not your fault the system is this broken. Everyone struggles with these phone lines.

•Agreed. The phone system is the problem, not the people trying to call. Don't let it stress you out too much.
