PFL payment stopped after 4/9 - no response for 20+ days. What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my paid family leave payments. The last one I got was back in April, and it's been radio silence since then. I got this letter saying I should reach out if I don't get paid for more than 20 days. It's been way longer than that now. Anyone else dealing with this? What should I do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. Have you tried calling the PFL office? Fair warning though, getting through to a human is like trying to win the lottery 🎰

I've been trying to call for days now. It's either busy signals or being on hold forever. This is so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I managed to get through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

lol good luck with that. i swear they have like 2 people working the phones 🙄

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

20 bucks to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was totally worth it.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all letters, emails, and note down every call attempt. 2. Try reaching out via their online portal if they have one. 3. Contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with PFL issues. 4. If all else fails, consider filing a formal complaint with the state labor board. 5. Keep trying to call, but use *67 before the number to unblock your caller ID. Sometimes this helps get through. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but you're entitled to your benefits.

I'm in the exact same boat! It's been 2 months since my last payment. This system is so broken 😫

Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. Hopefully we both get it sorted out soon!

Plot twist: what if they secretly cancelled the whole PFL program and forgot to tell us? 🤔🤣

LOL don't even joke about that! 😅 With how things are going, I wouldn't even be surprised

Hey OP, what state are you in? The process can vary depending on where you live.

I'm in California. Should've mentioned that, my bad!

Ah gotcha. CA is usually pretty good with PFL. Definitely try contacting your state rep as someone else suggested. They can often work miracles!

unpopular opinion: maybe try going to their office in person? I know it's a pain, but sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with bureaucracy.

I tried this last month. Waited 4 hours only to be told they can't help in person and I need to call. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.

Oof, that sucks. Guess times have changed. Sorry for the bad advice!

Have you checked if there were any changes to the PFL program recently? Sometimes they update rules and it messes up ongoing claims.

guys. i literaly just got off the phone with PFL. they said there's a huge backlog due to a system upgrade. might explain the delays everyone's experiencing

0 coins

Oh wow, thanks for the info! Did they give any timeline on when it might be resolved?

they were pretty vague tbh. just said to keep checking ur account and be patient 🙄
