PFL claim stuck - birth certificate submitted 6 weeks ago, still no payment from EDD. Help!

I submitted my child's birth certificate for my PFL claim weeks ago, and I still haven't received any payment. A rep told me it would only take 24 hours to process, but it's been way longer. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? I'm getting worried because I haven't been paid for 6 weeks now. Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! 🚣‍♀️ Submitted my docs like 2 months ago and still crickets. The EDD is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them? I've been trying but can never get through 🙄

I've tried calling so many times, but it's always busy or I get disconnected. It's so frustrating! How are we supposed to survive without pay for this long?

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It worked for me and I finally got my issue resolved. Worth every penny tbh.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and submitted documents. 2. Contact your local assembly member's office. They can often help expedite EDD claims. 3. File a complaint with the EDD. Sometimes this can bump your claim up for review. 4. Check your EDD account online daily for any updates or requests for additional info. 5. If you're really in a bind, consider applying for emergency assistance through local charities or your county's social services. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but you'll get your money eventually.

Good idea, I'll double check. But I've been logging into my EDD account every day and there's nothing new there either. 😕

This is why we need serious reform in our social services. It's ridiculous that new parents have to jump through so many hoops just to get the benefits they're entitled to. Vote for candidates who prioritize fixing these broken systems!

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why can't they process a simple birth certificate faster?

Careful what you wish for. More government involvement usually means more red tape, not less.

Plot twist: what if the birth certificate got lost in the mail? Might be worth resubmitting just in case. I've heard horror stories of docs never making it to EDD.

Oh no, I hadn't even thought of that! 😱 I'll try to submit it again online if I can. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hang in there, OP! I know it's tough, but your little one is worth it. Try to enjoy these precious moments with your baby, even with the stress. The money will come eventually. Sending positive vibes your way! ❤️👶
