PFL Payment Delay: 3 Weeks and Counting - What's Normal for CA EDD?
Has anyone else been waiting forever for their PFL payment? I submitted my claim like 3 weeks ago and still haven't seen a dime. This is getting ridiculous. I'm starting to worry that something went wrong with my application. Anyone know how long this usually takes or what I should do next?

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should be grateful the system exists at all? I know the wait sucks, but at least we have this option. Some countries don't even have PFL

•There's truth to that, but why settle when improvement is possible? Balancing gratitude with a push for change is key.

Hey, I've been through this before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your application: Make sure you didn't miss any required documents or info. 2. Contact your employer: Verify they've submitted their part of the claim. 3. Keep calling: I know it sucks, but persistence pays off. Try calling right when they open. 4. Use the online portal: Sometimes you can see updates there that aren't communicated elsewhere. 5. Consider reaching out to your local representative: They can sometimes help push things along. Don't give up! It's a slow process, but you'll get your money eventually.

•These steps are helpful, but do you know if any of them can expedite the process? I'm really in dire straits.

Has anyone tried threatening legal action? I'm seriously considering it at this point. This delay is causing real financial hardship.

•I wouldn't bother. They probably have an army of lawyers. We're just little fish to them

•Maybe a class action lawsuit? If enough of us are having this problem, it could work

•Legal action is a big step, but are there legal aid organizations that could advise on this situation?

To those still waiting on PFL payments, I understand your frustration. The official timeline for PFL processing claims is typically 2-3 weeks, but many are experiencing significant delays due to administrative backlogs or errors. It's crucial first to ensure your application is complete and accurately filled out, including all required documentation. After verifying your end, check with your employer to confirm they've submitted any necessary information on their side. Utilizing the online portals for status updates might provide some insight, even if limited. Persistence with calling, though difficult, is often necessary. For those struggling with phone wait times, services like Claimyr can help connect you to an agent, though they come at a cost. It's also advisable to contact your local representatives, as they may expedite processes on your behalf. Lastly, while waiting, consider reaching out to community resources or support groups that may offer temporary assistance until you receive your benefits. Patience and persistence, unfortunately, seem to be the current requisites.

Lol welcome to the club. We should start a support group for people waiting on PFL payments. Who's in? 🙋♀️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. https://claimyr.com/?ref=red

This is why we need to vote for better leadership. The current administration clearly doesn't care about working people. Wake up, sheeple! 🐑

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I waited 2 months for mine. The whole process is a joke. They say 2-3 weeks on their website, but that's a load of 💩

guys. i think i figured it out. if you stand on your head, spin around 3 times, and chant "pay me now" while submitting your claim, it goes through instantly. trust me, im an expert 🤡

Same boat here - going on 4 weeks now with zero communication from EDD. The lack of transparency is what gets me the most. Like, just tell us where we stand in the queue or what's causing the holdup! I've tried calling dozens of times but can never get through. Starting to think I should have just taken unpaid leave instead of dealing with this nightmare. Has anyone had luck with contacting their state assembly representative? I'm running out of options here.

•I'm in the exact same situation - 4 weeks and counting with absolutely no updates! The lack of communication is what's driving me crazy too. I actually did reach out to my assembly rep about 2 weeks ago and they said they'd look into it, but haven't heard back yet. At this point I'm wondering if I should contact local news outlets - maybe some public pressure would help speed things up? This whole system feels designed to make us give up and go away.

I'm dealing with the same nightmare - 6 weeks now and still nothing! What's really frustrating is that I keep getting conflicting information every time I do manage to get through to someone. One rep told me my claim was "under review," another said it was "processing normally," and the last one couldn't even find my claim in the system. It's like they're making this stuff up as they go along. I've started documenting every interaction with dates and names just in case I need to escalate this further. Has anyone else noticed the reps giving completely different answers about the same claim?

•This is exactly what I'm worried about! The inconsistent information is almost worse than no information at all. It makes you wonder if they even have a proper system for tracking claims or if each rep is just guessing. Documenting everything is smart - I wish I had started doing that from the beginning. It's maddening that we have to become our own case managers just to get benefits we're entitled to. Has anyone tried escalating to a supervisor when you get these conflicting answers?

I'm in week 4 of waiting too and honestly starting to panic about my bills. What really bothers me is how the EDD website still shows that fake 2-3 week timeline when clearly that's not reality for most of us. I've been calling every single day at 8am sharp when they open and either get a busy signal or sit on hold for hours just to get disconnected. Yesterday I finally got through to someone who told me my claim was "pending additional review" but couldn't tell me what that means or how long it would take. It's like they're intentionally being vague to avoid giving us any real answers. At this point I'm considering reaching out to local news stations because this seems like a widespread issue that needs public attention.

•I'm so sorry you're going through this too! The fake 2-3 week timeline on their website is honestly insulting at this point - they should update it to reflect reality. Reaching out to local news is a brilliant idea! If enough of us are dealing with this, maybe media pressure could force them to actually address the systemic issues. I'm definitely interested in joining any effort to get this story out there. Has anyone started compiling a list of people affected? We could probably put together some compelling testimonials about how these delays are impacting real families.

I'm on week 5 now and honestly feeling defeated. The most frustrating part is that I did everything right - submitted all documents, followed up with my employer, double-checked everything multiple times. Yet here I am still waiting while my savings dwindle. What really gets me is how they make us jump through hoops just to apply, but then their end of the process is completely broken. I've started keeping a detailed log of every call attempt, every hold time, every rep interaction because at this point I feel like I need evidence of this dysfunction. Has anyone had any luck getting actual concrete answers about what's causing these massive delays? I'm starting to think the 2-3 week timeline was never realistic to begin with.

•I'm so sorry you're going through this - week 5 is absolutely brutal and you're right to feel frustrated. Your approach of documenting everything is really smart and could be valuable if you need to escalate later. From what I've been reading in various forums, it seems like the system is just completely overwhelmed and understaffed. Some people have mentioned that calling right at 8am sharp or using the callback services has helped, but even that's hit or miss. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office yet? I've heard they sometimes have direct lines to EDD that can help cut through the bureaucracy. Hang in there - you shouldn't have to be your own case manager for benefits you've earned!
