PFL claim submitted 3+ weeks ago, no payment yet. How to speed up EDD?
Has anyone else been waiting forever for their PFL payment? I submitted my claim over 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. They said it would take 2-3 weeks, but it's almost been 4 weeks now. I'm really starting to worry because I need this money. Any advice on how to speed things up or at least get an update?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat. It took them 6 weeks to process my claim! The system is so backed up right now, it's ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? That's what finally worked for me.

6 weeks?! That's insane. I've tried calling but can never get through. How many times did you have to call before you got someone?

Honestly, I lost count. I probably called like 50 times over the course of a week. It was exhausting, but I finally got lucky and got through to someone who could help.

Here's a tip that worked for me: I found this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then forwards the call to you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate and decided to give it a shot. It worked exactly as advertised. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours without having to sit by my phone the whole time.

Can confirm, I used it too. Totally worth the $20 imo

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite things with EDD. Worth a shot!

This is why the system is broken. People shouldn't have to wait weeks for money they're entitled to. It's not like bills and rent just magically stop while you're waiting for your claim to be processed. 🤬

I work in HR and deal with this stuff all the time. Here's what I recommend: 1. Keep calling. I know it's frustrating, but persistence pays off. 2. Document everything. Keep a log of when you submitted your claim, any correspondence, and your attempts to contact them. 3. Check your online account regularly for updates. 4. If you're really in a bind, consider contacting your local representative or the media. Sometimes public pressure can speed things up. 5. Make sure you've submitted all required documentation. Sometimes claims are delayed because of missing info. Hang in there! I know it's tough, but you'll get your money eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records of everything. Do you know if there's a way to check the status of my claim online?

Yes, you should be able to check your claim status through your EDD online account. If you haven't set one up yet, do it ASAP. It's the fastest way to get updates.

Have you tried sending a strongly worded email? Sometimes that can light a fire under them. Here's a template I used: Subject: Urgent: Delayed PFL Payment Inquiry Dear EDD, I submitted my PFL claim over three weeks ago and have not received any payment or update. This delay is causing significant financial strain. I kindly request an expedited review of my case. Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, [Your Name] [Claim Number] Hope this helps!

This is great, thank you! I'll definitely try this. Do you know what email address I should send it to?

You're welcome! You can find the contact info on the EDD website, but I think the general inquiries email is pfl@edd.ca.gov. Good luck!
