< Back to California Paid Family Leave

PFL claim submitted 3 weeks ago, no payment yet. Normal or should I be worried?

Has anyone else been waiting forever for their Paid Family Leave payment? I submitted my claim like 3 weeks ago and still haven't seen a dime. Starting to get worried I'll never see that money. Anyone know what's going on or how long this usually takes?

I found a way to solve PFL payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yref47ukUAY

Ugh, I feel you. I've been waiting for over a month now. It's so frustrating! Have you tried calling them? I heard sometimes that can speed things up.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's like their phone lines are always busy or something. 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

lol good luck with that. I tried calling for weeks and never got a human. This system is a joke 🤡

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, ya know? And I was able to finally get my issue resolved.

Here's what I know about PFL claims processing: • Normal processing time is 14 calendar days • If additional info is needed, it can take up to 30 days • First payments are usually issued within 14 days of claim approval If it's been over 3 weeks, something might be holding up your claim. Check your online account for any messages or requests for additional info. If you can't find anything, you really need to talk to a rep.

Thanks for the breakdown! I'll double-check my account. Fingers crossed there's no hold-up 🤞

I'm in the same boat. Applied 4 weeks ago and radio silence since then. This is ridiculous. Don't they realize people need this money to survive?? 😡

Word of advice: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online message. You might need it if things go sideways.

Good idea. I'll start keeping a log. Hopefully I won't need it, but better safe than sorry!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under EDD's butt.

plot twist: EDD is actually run by sloths. explains the speed of service 🦥😂

Hey now, don't insult sloths like that. They're way more efficient!
