PFL claim disqualified due to wrong dates - 2 month wait, need help!
Has anyone else had their paid family leave disqualified because of wrong dates? I've been waiting for 2 months and just found out it was rejected due to incorrect dates on the application. I'm so frustrated and don't know what to do next. Any advice on how to fix this or appeal the decision?

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling them to explain the situation? Sometimes they can fix it over the phone if it's just a simple date error.

•Yeah, getting through on the phone is a nightmare. Keep trying tho, early mornings seem to work best for me.

•Pro tip: use a calling service like claimyr.com. It dials for you, waits on hold, then calls you when an agent picks up. Costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration.

This happened to me too! I had to file an appeal and provide documentation showing the correct dates. It took about 3 weeks, but they eventually approved it. Don't give up!

•Thanks for the hope! Did you have to do anything special for the appeal process?

•Not really, just filled out the appeal form and included copies of my medical documents with the correct dates. Make sure everything is super clear and easy to read!

The whole system is broken af. I swear they make these 'mistakes' on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. Stay strong and keep fighting! 💪

Hey everyone, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it totally works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo. Just sharing what worked for me! 🤷♂️

Here's what you need to do to fix this issue: 1. Gather all your documentation (medical records, employment info, etc.) with the correct dates. 2. Fill out an appeal form - you can usually find this on your state's PFL website. 3. Write a clear, concise letter explaining the date error and why it occurred. 4. Submit everything together - appeal form, letter, and supporting docs. 5. Follow up regularly (once a week) by phone or email. 6. If possible, get your employer to submit a statement confirming the correct dates. Remember, persistence is key! Don't let them wear you down. Good luck!

I went through this exact same nightmare last year! The date error thing is SO common - you're definitely not alone. Here's what finally worked for me: I sent a certified letter to their appeals department with all my correct documentation AND called my state representative's office to ask for help. The rep's office actually contacted EDD on my behalf and it got resolved within 2 weeks after that. Sometimes you need that extra push from someone with more authority. Don't give up - you deserve those benefits!

•This is such helpful advice! I never thought about contacting my state representative's office. That's a really smart move - having someone with authority advocate for you can make all the difference. Thanks for sharing what worked for you! @GalaxyGazer did you have to provide any specific information when you contacted the rep's office?

I'm dealing with something similar right now - got my PFL claim denied last week because I mixed up some dates on the form. It's incredibly frustrating, especially when you're already stressed about the family situation that required the leave in the first place. Reading through these responses is really helpful though. I'm going to try the appeal process that @Victoria Brown outlined and maybe look into contacting my state rep's office like @GalaxyGazer suggested. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it helps to know we're not alone in this mess!

•I'm so sorry you're going through this too @Zadie Patel! It really is awful having to deal with bureaucratic mess when you're already handling family stress. I'm actually new here but reading through everyone's experiences has been eye-opening - it sounds like this date error issue is way more common than it should be. The combination approach of appeals + state rep involvement seems like the way to go based on what others have shared. Wishing you luck with your appeal process! 🤞

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been lurking here for a while but never posted - this thread is exactly why I joined this community! The date error issue seems to be such a widespread problem with PFL claims. I'm actually preparing to file my own claim soon and reading all your experiences has me double and triple checking every single date on my paperwork. @Victoria Brown your step-by-step guide is incredibly helpful - I'm screenshotting that for reference! And @GalaxyGazer the state representative tip is genius, I never would have thought of that. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories, both the frustrating parts and the solutions. It's so valuable to have real people sharing what actually works vs just reading generic government websites that don't help when things go wrong.
