PFL benefits: How to handle uncertain back-to-work date? Need advice ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my PFL benefits. I initially filed for them, but now my back-to-work date might be earlier than I thought. It could be next week or the week after, and I'm not really sure what to do. Do I need to cancel the benefits? How does this affect everything? Any advice would be appreciated!

Oof, I've been there before. The uncertainty is the worst part. Here's what I'd suggest: 1. Call the PFL office ASAP. Let them know your situation. 2. Ask about partial benefits if you return part-time. 3. Don't cancel anything until you have a firm date. 4. Document all conversations with the office. 5. Be prepared to pay back any overpayment if you return earlier. Remember, it's better to communicate too much than too little with these folks. Good luck!

•Quick question - how long does it usually take to get through to someone at the PFL office? I've been trying for days and keep getting the runaround.

•Ugh, getting through can be a nightmare. I usually try early in the morning, like right when they open. Sometimes I've had luck during lunch hours too. But honestly? It's hit or miss.

•Pro tip: use one of those auto-redial apps. Set it up, put your phone on speaker, and go about your day. Eventually you'll get through!

•Yeah, it's called Partial Return to Work (PRTW). Basically, you can work part-time and still receive a portion of your PFL benefits. The amount depends on how many hours you work and your wages.

•Mind. Blown. 🤯 Why don't they tell us this stuff?? Thx for the info!

Whatever you do, DON'T just stop claiming without telling them. I did that and it was a HUGE headache. Took months to sort out.

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•It's sad that we have to pay extra just to get basic customer service 😒

Has anyone successfully appealed an overpayment? I'm in a similar boat and worried I might end up owing money.

•I did! It took forever, but I was able to prove that the overpayment wasn't my fault. Keep ALL your paperwork and be persistent!

•That's encouraging to hear. How long did the appeal process take for you?

•It took about 2 months from when I filed the appeal to when I got a decision. Felt like an eternity tho lol

Pro tip: If you do end up owing money, ask about a payment plan. They're usually pretty flexible about it.

Anyone else feel like they need a law degree just to navigate this stuff? 🤔 Why can't they make it simpler?
