Missed SDI deadline for revised return-to-work date. What now?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability claim. They asked me to send in my revised return to work date by a certain deadline, but I couldn't do it because I didn't know when I'd be able to go back yet. Now I'm worried about what this means for my claim. Has anyone else been in this situation? What should I do when I call them?

Ugh, been there done that. The disability office can be such a pain sometimes. When you call, just explain the situation honestly. Tell them you couldn't provide the date because you genuinely didn't know. They might be understanding if you're upfront about it.

•Yeah, honesty is the best policy with these guys. But be prepared for a long wait time when you call 🙄

•Tru dat. I spent like 3 hours on hold last time I called them. It's ridiculous!

•Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely gonna be honest. Just hope they don't give me too much grief about missing the deadline.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yep, 100% legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 45 minutes for me, but I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are. Still way better than sitting on hold yourself!

Listen up, OP. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your medical documentation 2. Write down the exact dates of when you were asked for the info and why you couldn't provide it 3. If you have returned to work, note that date 4. Call them ASAP and explain the situation 5. Be polite but firm - you had a valid reason for not providing the info 6. Ask if there's a way to update your claim now 7. If they give you trouble, ask to speak to a supervisor Remember, you're not the first person to go through this. Stay calm and persistent. Good luck!

•This is solid advice right here. I'd add: take notes during your call and get the name of who you speak to. It can help if you need to follow up later.

Quick question - did they send you any kind of notice or reminder about the deadline? Sometimes they claim they sent something but it never arrives.

•You know, now that you mention it, I don't remember getting a reminder. I'll def bring that up when I call. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hey OP, don't stress too much. I missed a deadline once and thought my claim was toast. But I called, explained my situation, and they were actually pretty cool about it. Just be nice when you call (even if they're not) and you should be fine.

Hey Amun-Ra, I went through something similar last year. The key thing is to call them as soon as possible and explain that you couldn't provide the date because your medical condition was still being evaluated. They usually have procedures for situations like this. Make sure to mention that you acted in good faith and were waiting for clearance from your doctor. Also, if you have any documentation from your healthcare provider showing ongoing treatment during that time, it can really help your case. Don't give up - these situations are more common than you think!

•This is really helpful advice! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now and was panicking about missing my deadline. It's reassuring to know that they have procedures for these cases. Did you have to submit any specific forms or just explain over the phone? I'm wondering if I should get a letter from my doctor beforehand to have ready when I call.
