Need help fixing wrong return-to-work date on EDD claim - what to do?

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I just realized there's a mistake on my EDD claim regarding my return-to-work date. Has anyone gone through the process of updating this information? I'm not sure what to expect when I call them. Any tips on what I should prepare or say during the call would be really helpful. I'm kinda nervous about messing things up further.

I've been through this before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your claim documents and any proof of your correct return date. 2. Call EDD and explain the situation clearly. 3. Be patient - the wait times can be crazy long. 4. Ask for a confirmation number or email after they make the changes. 5. Follow up if you don't see the updates in a few days. Good luck! The system is a mess, but stay persistent.

This is solid advice. I'd add: write down the name of who you talk to and the time of the call. It's saved my butt before when they 'lost' my info.

Ugh, the wait times 😫 I spent 3 hours on hold last week. There's gotta be a better way!

Thanks for the extra tips! And yeah, the wait times are brutal. Patience is definitely key here.

bro just give up. EDD is a joke. I've been trying to fix my claim for MONTHS and keep getting the runaround. 🤡🤡🤡

Nah man, don't give up! It sucks but you gotta keep pushing. Have you tried reaching out to your local rep? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Local rep? Didn't even know that was an option. Might give it a shot, thx

Quick question - how did you notice the mistake? I'm paranoid now and want to double-check my own claim lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic service 😤

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

0 coins

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than doing it yourself tho

make sure you document EVERYTHING. EDD is notorious for 'losing' info. I learned this the hard way 😭

This 💯 Take screenshots, save emails, write down call details. You never know when you'll need it.

Has anyone had luck fixing this online? I hate calling lol

I tried but ended up having to call anyway. The online system is useless for most changes 🙄

Ugh, figures. Thanks for letting me know!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in like 15 minutes last time I did that.

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose

Totally agree. We need to push for reform. This isn't working for anyone.

Question for OP - how off is your return date? If it's just a day or two, it might not be worth the hassle tbh

Sending good vibes your way, OP! Dealing with EDD can be a nightmare, but don't let it get you down. You got this! 💪

Hey Anastasia! I went through this exact same thing last month. The key is to stay calm and be super organized when you call. Have your claim number, SSN, and the correct return-to-work date written down before you dial. Also bring any documentation that supports the correct date (like a doctor's note or employer letter). One thing that really helped me was calling the technical support line instead of the regular claims line - sometimes they're less busy. The number is 1-800-300-5616. When you get through, be polite but firm about needing the correction made immediately. Also, ask them to send you a confirmation letter or email with the changes. That way you have proof if anything gets messed up later. Good luck! 🤞

This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't know about the technical support line - that's a great tip. I'm definitely going to try that number first. Really appreciate you sharing the specific steps too, makes me feel way less anxious about the whole process 😊
