ID.me duplicate accounts blocking my PFL claim - urgent help needed!
Just spent hours trying to figure out why my PFL baby bonding application keeps getting stuck. Turns out I have TWO ID.me accounts and the system keeps flagging this as suspicious! I finally managed to log in to both accounts (apparently created one years ago and forgot), but now I'm completely stuck. Does anyone know how to delete or merge ID.me duplicate accounts? My baby is 6 weeks old, I'm completely sleep deprived, and we REALLY need this payment to process. Has anyone dealt with this before?

•Do you know what number she called? I've been looking on their website and all I can find is this annoying chat bot that doesn't understand my question.

I dealt with this exact issue when filing for my PFL claim after my twins were born! You need to contact ID.me support directly through their help portal. Go to help.id.me and submit a ticket specifically about duplicate accounts. Make sure you have both email addresses and phone numbers associated with each account ready. In my case, they were able to merge the accounts within 48 hours, but I had to verify which account I wanted to keep. Choose the one that's already linked to your EDD profile if possible. Once merged, you'll need to log back into your EDD account and it should resolve the issue with your PFL application.

•Thank you SO much for the detailed info! Just submitted a ticket with all the account details. Crossing fingers they can merge them quickly. Did you have to restart your PFL claim after they fixed it or did it just continue processing?

•My claim continued processing after the ID.me issue was fixed! But it's a good idea to call EDD directly once your ID.me accounts are merged just to make sure they restart processing your claim. Sometimes they need a nudge.

DONT try to delete both accounts and start over!!!! I did that and it created MORE problems with my PFL claim, had to wait almost a month to get paid. Just FYI the ID.me support takes FOREVER to respond sometimes. I had to wait 4 days just to get an initial response and then another 3 days to get the accounts actually merged. Meanwhile my baby was already 2 months old and we were behind on rent. The whole system is RIDICULOUS.

•That's terrible! I'm already stressing about bills. Did you try calling EDD while waiting for ID.me to fix things? I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to speed this up.

If you need to get through to an EDD agent faster, try Claimyr. I was in the exact same situation with ID.me issues for my maternity leave transition to baby bonding. Used their service and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days trying. They were able to put notes in my account while I waited for ID.me to fix the duplicate accounts. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5 or just go to claimyr.com. Honestly worth it when you're sleep deprived with a newborn!

•Thank you! This might be exactly what I need. I'll check it out. At this point I'm willing to try anything that saves me time - especially with a new baby.

I actually work in tech (not for ID.me) but have some experience with identity verification systems. Here's what's happening: ID.me uses your SSN, phone, and email to create unique user profiles. When you have duplicates, their fraud detection gets triggered. Beyond submitting a ticket, if you want to potentially speed things up: 1. Try logging into both accounts and making sure your personal info is IDENTICAL (name format, address, etc.) 2. In your help ticket, specifically request account MERGING not deletion 3. Mention this is blocking a time-sensitive PFL benefit Also important - once it's fixed, clear your browser cache completely before logging back into EDD's system.

•This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I just double-checked and realized my name format was slightly different between accounts (middle initial in one, full middle name in the other). Just updated that and added all these details to my support ticket. Fingers crossed this speeds things up!

Just updating to let everyone know that I got this resolved! It took 4 days total - 2 days for ID.me to respond and 2 more to complete the account merge. I used Claimyr to get through to EDD (took about 25 mins to connect) and explained the situation. They put a note on my account and told me to call back once the ID.me issue was fixed. After ID.me merged my accounts, I called EDD again and they were able to push my PFL claim through. Payment is being deposited tomorrow! Thanks everyone for your help with this stressful situation.

Oh wow, reading through all these experiences is both helpful and terrifying! I'm 8 months pregnant and planning to apply for PFL in a few weeks. I'm pretty sure I have multiple ID.me accounts from different job applications over the years. Should I try to sort this out BEFORE I apply for PFL, or wait until it becomes a problem? It sounds like being proactive might save me a lot of headache later, especially with a newborn!

•Definitely be proactive! I wish I had sorted out my ID.me accounts before applying. It's so much easier to deal with when you're not sleep-deprived and stressed about missing payments. Try logging into any email accounts you might have used for job applications and search for "ID.me" to see how many accounts you have. If you find duplicates, submit that help ticket now while you have the mental bandwidth to deal with it properly!
